I F***ed Up! My 360 Turn Off 1 Sec After I Turn It On.
« on: July 28, 2006, 05:55:00 AM »

I was taking this one apart, and i was turning it on while it was open.
Stupid me forgot to remove a screw on the motherboard that was bridging GROUND and a component.

Result, when i try to turn it ON now, it start for 1 sec, (goes from ORANGE to GREEN on powersupply) but turn instant off (back to ORANGE).

Can this be so easy as a fuse?
Do anyone where to look, or do anyone have a fuse diagram?

Do anyone have any hints where i should start looking?

Ive got much experience repairing ps2 consoles, but 360 im totally blank.

ps! I know its not my powersupply because ive testet 2 others and same results with them

Sounds like you had a loose screw laying on the motherboard if I understand you correctly....? and you turned it on with this screw lying there...?

Bad news; you most likely damaged a component on the motherboard (most likely a regulator). whose to say the damage stopped there thought... your best bet is a new motherboard.

Can you show a pic of the area where the screw was?

Most likely, replacing the damaged component will fix it, but sometimes when one part fries is starts a chain reaction that fries a bunch of other things, so IDK.

Replacing parts like that is really hit or miss, sometimes it will work, sometimes it won't.

I'll be willing to buy the mobo off you for a decent price

Try taking the mobo out of the metal casing then power it on. That might help
