You only have 15 minutes to edit your post.

C5E1 is a Filter Cap, it'll be alright with it missing. The actual value could be anything really from 0.001uf to 10uf, you'd have to get one from another 360 board and measure it with a Cap Checker or M$ to cough up a parts list to know for sure.

RDC;

Thank you very much for taking the time to reply to my post. If this is not a show stopper and won't cause his 360 harm to have it missing, I will go ahead and continue on with the rest of my friends repair.  I think he may have been a little too rough with the quetip when he was cleaning his mess of too much heat sink compound (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

He's got the RRoD. 0020 I noticed his missing cap when I was using my cleanser on his gpu.

Thanks again!

Hello, I am new to both this forum and electronics. Recently I have bought an xbox with rrod. It seems that a resistor (marked on image) is missing. I am not sure of its name as I am not familliar with notation on the board. So:

1. What is the value of the marked resistor? (For a replacement)
2. Could this alone be causing the failure?
3. Is it called R6R3 (as for the block of resistors) or R6R7? (as in the sequence of the white box marked with the question mark)

Thanks!

(I know the resolution of the photo is terrible, but when saved and zoomed the markings and place of resistor is visible. Sorry, no place to upload!)

The quality of the previous photo was truly indecent so I uploaded a good one.

I would also like to know the values/effect of C7R1 (which seems to be damaged too)

Hi,
I bought an rrod xbox 360 and have been trying to fix it, the xclamp fix method didn't work so I was going to try the heatgun method tomorrow, when I was cleaning of some of the thermal paste off of the gpu I saw what appears to be a capacitor sliced in half, can I fix this?
Also the corner of the die seems to be a little damaged, is this bad?

Yeah, I am having the same issue. I have noticed that a few of the capacitor caps were missing on the top of my GPU as well. I think there are three various ones missing from the same location. I know one would probably not do any drastic damage, but three is pretty rough and I am pretty sure this is the source of my problems. I don't have RROD in any way, but I do get audio without video, and I'm pretty sure it stems from these capacitors not being there. I have checked for every other type of problem and It has to be this that is causing it. Any suggestions on where to get these components and what their capacitance may be? Would any capacitor under 1uF be acceptable? Thanks

Ok, so here are some actual pictures of my own GPU... hopefully someone can help me determine the capacitance on these caps and tell me where to get them. I'm thinking about going to Digikey, but who knows at this point.

I knocked off FB4T1 (section 4T)
it's under the board beneath the GPU. It's black in most cases and about the same size as someof the capacitors
Just wondering what it is and what might the value be. I'm waiting to see if I can find a dead board in the meantime to take that part.
All I can think of is a fuse maybe because it's designated as "F"
Thanks for any suggestion.

Hi,

I have a Zephyr/Elite board that does not power on at all, and I noticed it
is missing resistor R6C1.  On comparing the different board versions,
I see that this component is absent on newer boards, but in the picture
of the Elite board on Llamma's site, it IS there.

What value resistor would need to be placed there if it IS required on these
(Elite/Zephyr) boards, and could this be the reason that the board does not
power on?  (Standby voltages and ohm-outs of 5v, 12v, etc. are all as they
should be, so I don't think there's a short anywhere)

This forum is the most informative out of any of the others I've come across,
keep up the good work!

Hi,

Just join so I can post. This is an awesome topic. I am having the 3rod and open to fix but hands slip. Can someone tell me what are the ones listed below are and can they still be the cause of my 3rod?

C4T47 (Back of GPU)
R4T4 (Back of GPU)

Thanks in advance....

When I was applying the X-Clamp fix, I accidentally hit the area marked in red and ripped off the capacitor.

Would I be fine if I reconnected the small lead to the frontpanel connector?
You see, the small lead connects the front panel to the southbridge, and without it, my wireless controllers nor the ROL work, but I can turn the console on and off using the power button.

U6T1
anyone know what this is - i need one to fix my E80.
i see reference to it in this thread as a voltage regulator. but when i check on this list http://www2.electronicproducts.com/Microso...de_text-46.aspx
the only 5 pin device on the bottom of the mother board is an AND gate.

any ideas clever folk?

@ JordanIsMetal - The value of R3P7 has already been given in this thread, not gonna kill ya to go thru it and find it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) It's an 0402 SMT type Resistor and yes it can be replaced, provided the pads weren't damaged when it was knocked off the board, but if you have to ask how then you probably shouldn't try it on your own. Take it to someone that knows how to solder SMT components and let them check the area and replace it if nothing else is torn up or repair and install the new component, that's just not something you should really have a go at your first time out.

@ ruddlescounty - U6T1 is a 3.3v Regulator, but if U6T2 is installed you don't need U6T1, it's an either/or setup, it's not supposed to have both.

@ halofreak1990 - That missing Cap isn't going to cause any issues. If the trace is damaged though it will, and that can be repaired there at damaged spot. Look in the Tutorials section for the Trace Repair thread.

@ wolv3rine - C5F8 is 10v 220uF

@ xyoo - C4T47 should be alright with it missing, and R4T4 is 549ohms

@ techisgood148 - R6C1 is a 0ohm jumper, but if your board didn't have it installed you shouldn't stick it in there as it bypasses a Regulator that's on the bottom of the board, no telling what may happen if you do that.

@ BjBnet - FB4T1 is a Ferrite Bead, you can just jumper that component and you'll be fine, provided that's all that's wrong with it.

Can you please give me the values for :

C4R11

C4R9

C4R26

C4R19

C4R10

I'm pretty sure there all resistors and there on the other side of the GPU

Thank you i knocked them off fixing the x clamps and now have the 3 ring of death again :-(
