Topic: 360 Cant Read Nothing! (Read 100 times)

i jus turned on my xbox 2day and had nfsmw it jus kept making a sound inside while it was laoding the game as if it were scracthing the game, i ejected it and inserted a new 1, it wont load **** now,wont read nothing. and when it does try and read the game all it does it make a loud sound like b4 as if it were scratching the game, the ring light is on and not red stays green.
any1 know the proble?

Call MS.
Return the 360 if it is still under warranty. Sounds like the DVD drive has gone kaput.

yea the warranty is over which sucks so now i gotta pay 129 jus to get it fixed. thanxs anyway

yea no1 i know got that 1 year thing, no one really thinks thier 360 will get damaged you know thats why i didnt get it.

i got 1 quick question, i really dont wanna send in my xbox so i wanna open it up and see if i cant fix it, since the warranty is over can i remove the sticker and open it. and if i cant fix it, can i put the sticker back and send it back to xbox and than have to pay the 129 to get it fixed or they wont bother touching it no more since its been opened?

If you open it they will not fix it afterwards even if you are paying for the repair.
Ignore the other guys advice (post invisible now) as it is fraud

alrighty thanxs guys for all the help i guess im jus gonna buy a new 1, not gonna pay 129 for a little thing that i can probably fix my self. i rather buy a new 1 and have the old 1 to mess around with.

Since you're going to buy a new one, I would suggest taking apart the old 360's DVD drive, and cleaning the lens with a q-tip and contact lens solution or something else, like distilled water.

Do not use alcohol, though, because it has a tendency to fog the protective layer of some lenses. I know most people tell you to, but even a 1 in 100 chance isn't good enough for me.

yea thanxs man, and yea i know it would fog up the lens, i mod phones lol but not xbox's and i fogged up my camera phone lens and was ruined. thanxs for the heads up dough

how broke is it? your try and pot tweak it?

edit: just read the noise... you try taking it apart, seeing how it looked, and putting it back together and testing it?

the lens thats reads the disk turns red whene ever a game is inserted or when the game is powerd on, and when it trys to read tyhe game it makes a loud sound

Can the laser travel? Is it trying to travel? If it cannot travel (and slips) it would make a loud noise.

If the laser cannot move,that is the problem. You need to find out why. It could be blocked by a foreign object, the rail it glides on could need cleaning or a lube, or your gear that is attached to the lasercould be shot (unlikely at this stage, unless you let it keep grinding and grinding)

This could be an easy fix.
