Hey guys, I am in Europe for vacations and i brought my xbox 360 to be able to play with my friends at home in the states, I have a couple of questions.
I know that I have to get a transformer to be able to play my xbox here 220V to 110V, my question is I was looking at the input voltage required by the xbox itself and it seems that it takes 12V DC, therefore the power supply is the one converting the AC power to DC power I was wondering if it would work the same if I bought a european power supply which should also convert the AC power to DC power and give the xbox 12DC as well??
Or is my best bet just to get a transformer?
Also all my other electronic devices have never had a problem as long as I get an adapter, which is really strange cause yesterday I was just gonna try to boot it up and as soon as I plugged the power supply to the power outlet (the xbox was not plugged in) I heard a noise like you hear when the power goes out and then it smelled bad like it burned. It might not be broken yet cause the same smell came out of my old xbox when I was modding it and it still worked, so please let me know if someone can give me a hand with this,

You need to just use a standard 220V to 110V transformer.  Don't buy a cheap one, you need one that can handle at least 5 AMPS.


Getting a AC/DC transformer does not help you because that is what the Xbox power supply does.  It converts the 100V to 203W direct current.
