Xecuter ODD to USB Adapter Update2

We have now succesfully tested reading AND writing firmware to the HITACHI drive from Windows using our ODD (Optical Disc Drive) to USB Adapter.

Now we are working on the Toshiba/Samsung Drive its proving a little trickier. If anyone can get hold of an updated datasheet for the mediatek chipset on that drive let us know as it will speed things up a little.

That will definitely make things easier for those with laptops only (such as myself).

somebody was trying to say that, but i really dont think thats possible

This piece of hardware connects the SATA port on the back of your Hitachi/Samsung drive to your USB port on your computer. The 360 motherboard has nothing to do with this tool.

It's called an USB2SATA converter. Been flashing Hitachi's for the past week with one.
(Cost aprox 20$!)

But looking forward to be able to do that with the Toshiba/Samsung drives, no luck so far..

Really,  can I do this with just a USB2Sata and my Hitachi drive?

Yep, do the wire trick to get it in modeb or buy the xecuter adapter if you need to do more then one.
Then connect it to the usb2sata tingy. And presto..

Got the make/model of your USB2SATA unit?  I'm interested.

BTW I share your experiences attempting to flash the Toshiba/Samsung drive.  Tried USB2SATA, PCMCIA SATA, & ExpressCard SATA from my DELL Laptops - i.e. no success. sad.gif

Am I the only one who thinks - find it your damn self? I mean, you guys have to be a multi-million dollar company by now... you could PAY people to find a datasheet for you  dry.gif

I doubt multi-million. They're probably sitting comfortably though. In any case, for people who are sorta pressed for cash with an old comp. have a way to flash their drives now. I am one of those people, but I don't think I'll be flashing my drive until we get homebrew -I doubt DVD FW will do anything for that. Keep up the good work Team Xecutor.

So, with this device I will be able to patch my firmware through USB??  That's great news because trying to get it done with SATA is giving me a huge headache!  We will be able to dump our original keys and use various firmwares with this??  I hope they get it working with a Toshiba drive soon!
