Xecuter 360 Connectivity Kits and Case Disassembly Kit *Update2*
« Reply #30 on: May 18, 2006, 11:21:00 AM »

From what I can tell, it looks like the SATA-to-USB adapter is built into the HD connectivity kit.  You won't be able to use this with the 360 DVD, but you can hook up the 360HD to your computer via USB instead of SATA.

This is speculation, but: For those people who are looking for a SATA-to-USB/ATA converter to flash their DVD players, you can find the converters, but I don't think they are supported by the flash programs that are available.  I don't have any idea about how these programs work, but I think they need to be tweaked to inrease their compatibility with different chipsets, converters etc.  (correct me if I'm wrong).

I will do more research and post unless someone clarifies the root problem of the compatibility problems.

These are pretty cool

I like the HD kit, nice and easy to hook the up the 360 harddrive to your comp. It will come in handy for the future when all these intense software people create crazy programs that we can all use to pimp out our 360 user experience.

But.. as cool as they are.. dont think ill be buying either of them. I dont have the right dvd drive to flash the firmware anyways, and nothing really out yet to put on the HD.. except for gamesaves.. but ehh, whatev.

Peace

It seems like xecuter may be a bit late with the release, considering the new firmware hack allows you to connect the DVD drive to your PC with just an SATA cable.

I guess this is useful though, if you dont want your 360 on everytime you access the DVD drive.

The case disassembly tools sound interesting.

I don't like to speculate, but it would seem they are trying to make the connecter SATA>USB so that you could just plug your DVD drive into your USB ports and flash it. As far as I know, nobody has confirmed any USB>SATA or SATA>USB converters to work. Also I don't think many people have tried using USB adapters to flash with.

Overall this is really no help to me at all. I don't mind powering my drive with my 360 at all, and this won't be out soon enough to fix my problem with not having any SATA connections onboard, if it even can be used for flashing the drive.

This REALLY isn't that complicated!:

----------------------------------------------------

DVD Adaptor:

This will provide power to the dvd drive, using a standard pc power supply molex connector. It also has the eject button, etc.

This is EXACTLY what I want. Why risk my 360 by having it powered up just to get power to my DVD drive to flash it? Plus, I have to move the damn power supply near the computer, AND the video cable with it (which means going behind the TV, etc).

This cheap little adaptor will be nice to have, for CONVEINENCE. It serves no "required" purpose. It's all about conveinence.

This adaptor has nothing to do with SATA!

HDD Adaptor:

This adaptor is sweet. You can power the drive, and use SATA or USB to work with the HDD on your PC. What more do you want in an affordable little package?

----------------------------------------------------

These adaptors are going to be VERY affordable, $10-20 or whatever. They are for people who want to make things as easy/convenient as possible. You don't have to use them. Why bash a company who is offering something to help out, that some people might actually want? Hell, if they provide these to people who want them, and make a few $ along the way, good for them!

Furthermore, these devices have been announced and planned for like 2 months now. The only real news update today is the pictures. People are acting like they have never heard about these products until now, and because the firmware hack is public they are acting like little b$tches crying "how does this help me hack the firmware"  dry.gif

It wouldnt suprise me if Team Xecuter released all these things then waited another month or so to host a tutorial on their site that someone else wrote up on how to use them  tongue.gif

Where do these lame haters come from? Weren't you just told to stop acting like bitches ?

besides i just read what the adapter does - and for me its perfect and from what I can tell many many others will want it too as it's CONVENIENT

plus the fact you don't have to flash the xtreme0800 firmware to boot into windows or to rip your games - thats a brilliant little tool if you ask me - especially as my Xbox is downstairs in my house but my PC is upstairs - i just take the drive to my PC and voila

i don't understand why you people whine?

Yeah, I didn't even understand the "debug" feature allowed that, and I was already sold. Now I am getting one for sure, 2 less flashes with mtkflash every time you want to backup a game  biggrin.gif

Yeah there's definitely too much douchebaggery on this thread.  A nifty little product, one that would be *very* useful for anyone intending on flashing the firmware on their DVD drive.  Hell, I thought so before I heard what the debug button does, now that I know what it does it is *way* better.

Essentially you flash once and that's it.  Debug to rip, no debug to play.  Beats the hell out of REFLASHING every time you want to make a backup.  Hell that's just begging to brick a drive if you do it enough.

Seems like a pretty goodpiece of kit. Debug mode looks great. Now alls id like ()besides unisgned code tongue.gif ) is a write protect and switchable flash. That would tidy things up nicely.

I will be picking one up - the fact you Don't have to flash 2 times for 1 game = sold.

My Q is does this work for Both drives? I will have a spare H drive - that would be great!!!

I would have to admit - the time frame that TeamX puts stuff out is kinda slow at times.. But this would be for marketing.. I really think they should have made the case tools available long ago so it would be already out there.. The quality looks good to me, but ya never know till its in your hand..

I think you are ALL missing the HUGE potentional of the ODD adapter.

The ODD adapter allows the ODD drives to be natively detected by Windows.

We can't currently flash the DVD drives in windows (without first flashing them in DOS)  as they are not recognized.

Which means we *may* be able to then flash the ODD drives via a software method in Windows as opposed to hardware in DOS using Mkt opening up the use of the SIL 3114 adapter and possibly SATA -> USB or SATA -> IDE adapters.
