Finding Dvd-rom Manufacturer By Looking At The Box
« on: May 19, 2006, 09:53:00 PM »

As the topic suggests. Im looking to buy a premium soon but would like to get a samung-toshiba drive. Would be great if there is something visable in say the serial number that can be used to determine the brand of drive. Or maybe not. TIA!

I just bought 2 premium bundles at Costco and they were both Hitachi drives.
I have a few questions for those of you who has the Samsung drives, was it in a Premium pack or a Standard pack?
Also, can one of you post some #'s from the bar code label for us ?
This is what was on the bar code label from the Hitachi drive model.

B4J-00001

TEAM:WZHO

LOT NO:0614

WO:680162

(UPC)  882224035811

Hopefully this can narrow our search for the Toshiba drives without spending a $1000!

I thought they did away with the Hitachis back around the launch date. I have bought 4 premiums so far and they have all in-cluded the Samsung Drive.

I heard, Lot # 0602, Lot # 0610 and Lot # 0613 are Toshiba Samsung.

Lot # 0543 (Launch Date) Hitachi

I can confirm 0602 , 4 people already said to me that they have the Toshiba-samsung and their X360 Premium Lot # is 0602.

I just picked up a premium and it came with Samsung

Lot No. 0614

TEAM:FDOU

so maybe the team is more important than lot #? or is it still just luck of the draw?

I've got both a WZHO and FDOU that are both hitachi's, so the team seems to be unreliable in that regards, the FDOU was from lot #612, wzho was launch

Ok, I've created a site that lets us collate Xbox 360 drive data in a more structured way. The list includes the most important fields like, core or premium pack, mfg date, lot and team number, dvd drive of course, country and where it was purchased.

Check out http://www.360drives.com/

Submit your information to get the site going.
