First Shots/Details of Steering Wheel, Headset, HD-DVD, 256MB memcard, Cam-- Posted by XanTium on May 10 00:01 EST
We get some additional details and press-pictures about the upcoming Xbox 360 accessoiries announced during the Microsoft pre-E3 Keynote (and more ... like a 256MB memcard) from xbox360.ign.com and the Xbox press site:

Quote

* The Xbox 360 Wireless Racing Wheel (release date: fall, price TBD) is in development internally at Microsoft by several members from the Microsoft Sidewinder team. The first-party design has a thick, contoured rubber pad for lap usage, and a sturdy clamp for table usage. The wireless steering wheel comes with F1-style shift paddles and pedals equipped with a medal rim to anchor your heels while playing.
The existing battery life is the same as the wireless controller and, by using the AC adaptor, you'll get force feedback. There are two levels of feedback, the basic rumble motors that pick up wheels on gravel and low-level rumbles, and force feedback, from the actual car performance -- slides, crashes, etc. The same rechargeable unit that works for the controllers works with the Xbox 360 wireless steering wheel. The wheel comes with full Dpad usage, ABXY buttons, and a guide button. It comes in one color, "chill white."

* Xbox 360 Wireless Headset. The Xbox 360 Wireless Headset integrates seamlessly with the Xbox 360 console to provide wireless voice chat, stylish ergonomic design and superior voice quality over the Xbox Live network. Now gamers can pair this and the award-winning Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for the ultimate wireless experience. Gamers can use up to four Wireless Controllers and Wireless Headsets simultaneously during multiplayer gaming sessions (ERP TBA).

* Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows. Gamers can get the most out of current and future Xbox 360 wireless accessories with the new Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows. By plugging the compact receiver into a USB 2.0 port on the PC, the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller, Xbox 360 Wireless Headset and Xbox 360 Wireless Racing Wheel can be used on a second platform (ERP TBA).

* Xbox Live Vision. The Xbox Live Vision video camera seamlessly integrates with the Xbox 360 system and Xbox Live network to bring interactive social gaming to life. The camera allows gamers to personalize their gaming experience with their own unique gamer picture, send photo messages, and chat by video with friends and family over Xbox Live (ERP TBA).

* Xbox 360 HD DVD Player. The Xbox 360 HD DVD Player connects with Xbox 360 to deliver even more high-definition content through blockbuster HD DVD releases from major Hollywood and international movie studios. The HD DVD Player delivers superior high-definition-quality video and stunning digital surround sound with Xbox 360. It includes the Xbox 360 Universal Media Remote (ERP TBA).

* Xbox 360 Memory Unit (256 MB). With four times more capacity than the original, gamers can easily store and transfer even more Xbox 360 saved games, Xbox Live profiles, full Xbox Live Arcade titles and other entertainment content downloaded from Xbox Live Marketplace.

liking the steering wheel and force feedback and rumble both in there

and im a little curious about the wireless headset

if you go to the more pics link it will show the other side of the headset and theres five holes

4 with LED looking things in them.

then a little hole like on the outer side of the headset(maybe a double sided mic)

so the little led's got me thinking if those are the controller  it is assigned to?

all in all they all look great

If I am correct doesnt Hd DVD require an hdmi input in order to operate, and doesnt the 360 not have Hdmi output? Maybe they got rid of that and are going to allow you to get the movies working with the component cables.

Wow good thing I read this today. I was planning on going out tomarrow to buy a wired controller just for my PC (already have 4 wireless for the system). Ha they must have read my mind on what I wanted because I was also pondering the other day on when they're planning on making a wireless force feedback racing wheel.

i bet there will be a little dongle that will plug into the communicator port like the datel headset.

I'm still wondering on the price of the HD-DVD drive.  I also have a feeling that the whole HDMI requirement might go down the drain.  think about it...  if i had a HDTV that didn't have HDCP and spent $2000, and I bought a HD-DVD player or the 360 with the addon, if they start enabling the HDCP requiring that, I WON'T go out and buy a new TV for it...  most TV's last 5+ years, i would wait till then to buy a new tv, and then it will have HDCP, but do you think that movie studios would wait that long to put in place HDCP?  no.....  so they face a big problem....  envoke HDCP and have people like me that would just stop buying HD-DVD's untill then, or apparently they are not that concernded about HDCP to allow the new players to play without them.  I think HDCP has been/is a washout.

from what i understand, the 360 has no design for digital output.  it's all analog.  for what i understand, HDCP requires a digital interface right?????  correct me if i'm wrong.  but, if i'm right, I do not think that MS would put out an addon like this for it to not work in X number of years/months/whatever because of the limitation of HDCP.  so is the 360 capable of using HDCP from it's current a/v connector????  with either an analog to digital converter or not?

on a different note, I'm glad MS was smart enough to realize that people would much rather plug in their new HD-DVD drive in the back, and not the front, and to fix the problem posed with the wireless adapter.  AND added another port to allow the camara to be pluged in??????  I was thinking about that when the camara comes out, is i will more than likely put it on the top of my tv, and I would want to plug it in back.....  oh crap, i forgot about my wireless card, so now i have to plug it in up front..  now, I have no more delima.....  MS has their downfalls in reliability sometimes, but they do have some bring people trying to solve future people wants issues.

agreed...

I'll be picking up 4 of these if they are around that price.  1 for each controller for my 2 systems.

my cat has a real bad problem with chewing wires...  I have got through 4 (that's right.....4) halo 2 communicators before the 360, and about the same ammount of 360 headsets also.   grr.gif  makes me think she's trying to hit about something....  when i show up at home with these, she's going to sit down, look at it......  and go "shit, now I can't keep him off it."  THANK YOU MS FROM SAVING MY CAT FROM BEING KILLED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   cool.gif

Another thing I really want to know is.

Since the HD-DVD is USB connected.  Would it be able to be connected to PC.  It is a USB external DVD player right.  So I can't see why not.  That would be the greatest thing of the entire E3 for me.  If that can be connected to both the 360 and PC.  HD-DVD would win in my books.

I'm not so sure they'd make it that easy.  But we'll see.

Damn, The wireless headset and microphone are SICK.

I've been waiting for a wireless headset ever since I've damaged 3 wired headsets, I guess I'm rough on the wire.

Can't wait!
