Xbox only supports ide/ata (same thing), and yes you will need a power splitter (y-adapter) if you're going to use a second hd. Keep in mind that only one hd can be on at a time so you'll have to make that switched, and you'll have to recrimp your ide cable in the box.

Go to any local computer shop and ask them for a power splitter/y-adapter. They'll know what you're talking about. Shouldn't cost you more than 5 bucks.

The xbox does not have an S-ATA controller (s = serial), but a standard P-ATA (parallel).  There are S-ATA->P-ATA that work fine with the xbox, but it is really a waste of money, unless you plan on moving the drive to a PC with an s-ata controller in the near future.  You will see no performance increase with an s-ata drive in the xbox.

Yes that is the correct y-splitter

You were already told that "ATA" and "IDE" are one in the same.

I dont recommend using one... but do what you wish. 200$ is a great price.

I just got a 300gb hdd for $120 after rebate of $50, so that is not such a great deal (the $200).  Got it from outpost.com.  And, the reason that you need a y splitter for the Xenium is to use the hdd upgrade wizard.
