It's good to see that someone actually made an adapter like this and sold it, unlike the various companies that showed pics of their own crappy looking adapters and did nothing.

AH I got my adapter sometime ago from a "various company" and you can say it's crappy looking but it works and works well... All i gotta do is pop the HDD off the 360 and plug it into my pc and im ready to go...
(Have to power down PC first of course)

Oh and it was only 15 bucks...

if you know what your doing id get one for now it can be used later to power the datel unit as a standalone... if you are handy.

http://www.360sata.com/index.php

Currently SOLD OUT but should be in any day now...

are those where your OS is, if not you can disconnect for a minute and dump the 360 HDD (it's real quick) makes a 18 gig bin file and you can then play with it for hours of fun, also you can get a sata pci card or a sata to usb adapter. i know the sata to usb atapters are 25-30 bucks average I imagine you can get the sata pci card a lot cheaper.

FYI: even if your HDD has 14 gigs free the image bin will always be full size

a memory card itself runs about $40.  it would be cheaper to wait for and buy the xsata

I will only save 6-8 bucks...

40 for memory then 14 for the transfer kit no shipping plus i have a 40 dolla gift card to gamestop

47 for the xsata (plus shipping)

not to mention it will be nice having the memory card itself (no risk in screwing up the hard drive saves)

Yep. That's what I'm doing. If and when they release it, I'll also read the reviews/problems people post here.

Someone mentioned that the device needs to be connected and powered by the 360 in order to communicate with your computer. I hope Datel finds a workaround for this because my PC and 360 are in two separate rooms, and I don't feel like running the 360 back-and-forth. Like I said, though, I'll wait for the praises/complaints before plunking down the green.

As I've stated before, I'm going to order this just for the form factor. If the 360 is needed for power, then I'll gut it and wire in outside power.

I'm just interested in this for the form factor.

Think about it. all HDD's use 5v and 12v power.  USB only has 5v power.  unless it comes with a Wall-plug power adapter, the 360 would have to be ON.

exactly.  it would probably be easy to modify if it didnt come with an adapter.  and it does look sweet as well.

thats more than i want to spend.  if anybody preordered one at $39 and doesnt want it, i'll buy it (for no more than $50 shipped.)

It's been two weeks since May 10th. Have any of you received your XSATA yet?

Also, have you been charged the extra $10 like Morlok mentioned?

well i havent purchased it yet but it is listed for sale on the code junkies website now - for $49.99USD

for those of you living in the UK, buy it with Euros off their site - much cheaper! (still not as cheap as USD though)
