Yup, hook this up to your 360 HDD and locate the xbox 1 saves directory, (Don't recall exactl location at the moment).
It is 'theoretically' possible but hasn't been accomplished yet. The music files are stored much like the xbox1's music collection. They are 192 kbps .wma files with a special header (ID3 Tag Storage). And then finally there is a file called 'mindex' on partition3 that is basically your xbox1 'st.db' file in a way. It keeps a record of all your current music.
At the moment this doesn't look to be possible. All video files currently being stored on the hdd are within PIRS archives. Meaning they are signed and cannot be changed, therefore; we cannot create our own either.
Mainly, this is what it is. But there are lots of other fun stuff you can do with access to the HDD. smile.gif

Thank you for answering my questions. Can you clear up the newest controversy of a question I have about 15 feet being the limit for a USB 2.0 cable? You've got to be kidding me.

And if that's true, then you could bypass that by buying a bunch of 2.0 USB HUBs and stringing them together, couldn't you? (FYI My 360 is about 14 feet from my nearest USB port on my PC across the hallway from my front door to under my HDTV in the stand it sits on).

Also, I am beginning to regret buying this product because it doesn't look like I'll really end up using it.

Oh well - then again I can always eBay it. smile.gif eBay couldn't pull the auction because it is an actual product, doesn't violate any MS warranties on the Xbox 360 that I know of, and isn't a "hack" nor a "mod" that allows anything illegal or in violation on the 360 (although some would consider it a hack or a mod that does allow illegal things to take place, us who know what we're talking about know this is ridiculous to call it such terms).

Then again it may allow for some things that could violate MS's policieis but if you don't do those things then you don't violate the policy so MS couldn't pull it off their site as an auction. This is obvious anyway, seeing as how it's in stores and being sold like an "action replay" essentially.

Yes that is true, the maximum distance a USB cable can be is 5 meters (16.4 feet) you can extend that distance with a hub. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB

You would have to use powered hubs to maintain the usb 2.0 speeds, but they are cheap now.

2.) Yes you can copy files from your old xbox to 360, BUT it will not work with saves other than music and videos. Game saves will not work (for instance Halo 2 modded game saves). Profiles and other things WILL work.

So I can't transfer ANY gamesaves or just certain games....
eg could I transfer PES5 xbox games save with updated kits etc. uhh.gif

Any saves that are signed with a 'No-Roam' Signature cannot be moved. Meaning very few of the backward compatible titles. As well as only 2 of the current 360 games.

For those of you who have your 360 and computer in seperate rooms (you might need to be made of money as well).

USB Extender that uses CAT5e Cable.

http://www.tigerdire...65746&CatId=444

You can probably find one cheaper somewhere else. But now you know what to look for.

i sell those at work i can sell them to you for about 25 bucks cheaper.

when you call in tell them Paul sent you!   you wont get a discount but Mike who will answer the phone will appreciate the business.

http://usbcable.com/cat25.htm    part number 47-1782

scroll down untill you see that small extender its $56.  we sell many other extenders for straight usb cable or extended over cat5  so take your pick.

Would this hook up to a already enclosed, plug and play external (possibly networkable) hard drive.

The Datel product is a USB device, it has to connect to a USB host. It is designed to connect to the USB host in your PC but there is no reason why you could not connect it to any other host or something that can pretend to be a host (e.g OTG). HOWEVER nothing "off the shelf" is going to support the XBOX360 filesystem and so nothing is going to work.

QUOTE(Morlok8k @ Apr 8 2006, 09:14 AM) View Post

if i understand you correctly - then yes, it would work - it would be no different than putting a 200gb HDD in your computer as a second HDD and copying everything to that as USB HDD's show up just like any other drive. or even copying the files to your current HDD - but it seems like you have space issues.

As I've said only if you could find an external OTG hard drive you could in theory connect the two directly. Are there any such drives? I dont think so. Even if they did exist, they would not support XBOX360 file system.

You can of course connect the XBOX360 drive via the Datel adapter to a PC and connect another external USB drive to the same PC and copy from one to another that way using 360 xplorer.
