Me Too !!!

Changed the drop-down to Euro's and it works out at about £15/16 - cheers for the heads up just saved me nearly half price.

Checked with my credit card and they've only charged the euro rate so it looks like it's a done deal  pop.gif

Just one other thing - Does anyone know if it will be possible to transfer music via the xsata ?

For those of you who have your 360 and computer in seperate rooms (you might need to be made of money as well).

USB Extender that uses CAT5e Cable.

You can probably find one cheaper somewhere else.  But now you know what to look for.

Got a worldpay confirmation but no Datel receipt, just emailed their customer support to see if they are going to despatch the item to me in the UK (even though I paid by EUR and saved GBP13.99)

Not just me then.  I received a receipt when I originally paid in £ but when I placed the € order I only received Worldpay confirmation.

E-mailed to ask what happened (only shows a shipping charge in the track orders part)

I sifted through most of the discussion and couldn't pass-up buying one of these. It's design looks decent, not bad at all but could be better but could be far worse.

I bought one LATE, LATE last nigh off the website since on BestBuy.com it looks like they don't have it - or at least not yet.

But one thing I can't find is if it comes with this cable to connect to my PC and if it does how long is it? If it doesn't, where can I get one -- one that's about 20 feet preferably (since I don't want to move my PC or 360 closer to each other as it'd be a HUGE hassle (I guess a USB cable extender would be fine once I have the adapter cable but I'm still wondering -- DOES IT COME WITH IT?).

Also, I want to know like others have asked -

- CAN I transfer MP3's to my Xbox HDD with this?

- CAN I transfer video files (yay) to it?

- OR is it really just to xfr the Xbox 360's HDD content to my PC if I want to free up some space as it's advertised?

Thanks in advance to these questions. Could somebody please answer them? I suppose it's best to post this on the forum from Datel / Codejunkies (ActionReplay site) where you originally go to to purchase it.

But I'd rather post here so please answer my newb questions.

- Aer

Shopping for me, to the U.S., was $6 dollars and like 50+ cents or something. Like 7-10 days delivery time. That was the ONLY shipping option offered.

Not bad. smile.gif

Cool idea, but the link you posted kind of seems like a ripoff.  I would assume there are pretty much no electronics in there and it just puts the 4 USB wires and matches them to some CAT5 wires??
I would HOPE we could find it cheaper somewhere else biggrin.gif

Cheapest USB 2.0 one I could find

Also BasicAir - there is a usb cable included but I don't know how long it is.
I'm hoping it can be used with and without being connected to the 360, or as someone else said, that a power doohickey is made for it.

Angerwound - You say you can transfer xbox1 saves using this? How?

Yup, hook this up to your 360 HDD and locate the xbox 1 saves directory, (Don't recall exactl location at the moment).

It is 'theoretically' possible but hasn't been accomplished yet. The music files are stored much like the xbox1's music collection. They are 192 kbps .wma files with a special header (ID3 Tag Storage). And then finally there is a file called 'mindex' on partition3 that is basically your xbox1 'st.db' file in a way. It keeps a record of all your current music.

At the moment this doesn't look to be possible. All video files currently being stored on the hdd are within PIRS archives. Meaning they are signed and cannot be changed, therefore; we cannot create our own either.

Mainly, this is what it is. But there are lots of other fun stuff you can do with access to the HDD. smile.gif

Has anyone gotten one of these yet? I'm really thinking about getting one, but only if it doesn't have to be connected to the 360 itself to be able to be accessed. My 360 is across my house from my comp, and I'd like to be able to detach the HD and bring it near my comp for access.

It's getting its power from the 360 obviously. You'd have to supply it power some other way to turn it into a simple docking station.

Here are just some things to clear up:
--------------------------------------------
1.) You cannot just copy all of your data from your old xbox 360 hard drive and place it on another drive. There are many reasions why this won't work, such as the fact that the Xbox 360 hard drive is a diffrent format than a windows PC (such as FAT).

To the non-tech *as if it can get any simpler that that* some files on the xbox 360 hard drive are locked, such as the way the hard drive operates. These files CANNOT be copied with it.

2.) Yes you can copy files from your old xbox to 360, BUT it will not work with saves other than music and videos. Game saves will not work (for instance Halo 2 modded game saves). Profiles and other things WILL work.

3.)Datel will probally release an docking station as an accessory for it in the future.

4.)M$ will not have a "hissy-fit" over this. The whole product dose not interfear with there 'Terms Limited to Use'
see number 1. Because you cannot transfer market place saves (that you paid for)

5.) You can't just copy music/videos over to your 360 HD. (read angerwounds post).

5.) Yes basically all you can do with it is what is advertised

Otherwise I like the idea of insead of getting a larger hd, just put the files on ur PC.

PS = If anyone has this, what the extenction of the file it saves.

That item looks cool. I am in the US but at any rate that product looks pricey. Thanks for telling me it does come with a cable.

BUT THAT PRODUCT SAYS, and I QUOTE -- "........ overcoming the typical 15-feet USB cable limitation."

This is news to me.... USB devices can't have a cable more than 15 feet? I smell BS. I never heard of it, it doesn't make sense, and it just seems like a gimmick they're saying to promote their item and sell more of them.

Is it true a USB cable can only be around 15 feet? I can't believe that. It just doesn't make sense.

Can someone confirm is this, please???

I don't think anyone has one yet - then again if they do they'd be in the U.K. I'd imagine, obviously.

They definately aren't in stores here in the U.S. because I checked.

So anyway, I did order one like a lot of ppl in this thread yesterday and hopefully it shipped today but since I'm in the U.S. it's going to take 7-10 days but it's all good.
