Any saves that are signed with a 'No-Roam' Signature cannot be moved. Meaning very few of the backward compatible titles. As well as only 2 of the current 360 games.

I thought the No-Roam signature was cracked a LONG time ago? PaulB wrote a program called XBox Game Save Re-signer Beta 0.05

http://www.xbox-saves.com/

Perhaps it's impossible to obtain the XBOX360's unique hard drive key required to calculate new ones compatible with the XBOX 1 emulation on the 360?

Given time I am sure this will be possible.

You would have to use powered hubs to maintain the usb 2.0 speeds, but they are cheap now.

Damn, damn, damn. There's no way I'm stringing together a couple powered USB 2.0 hubs (AC powered?) just to use this so:

Well - when I get this, then, It's going for sale up on eBay. If they sell out early anyone is welcome to buy it from me for the same price they charged me with shipping and I'll ship it to you. Even if they don't sell out I will. I won't even be opening it when I get it in about 10 days.

So contact me if you're interested because it will be unopened, the same price they sell, and if you live in the U.S. you will get it TONS FASTER because you won't have to wait for it to come from the U.K. like I have to since I ordered it off of their site.

In theory, if we knew what the 360 was using in place of the HDD Key we could resign any xbox save for use on the 360. It's not known what is used currently, but it is thought to possibly be the 360 serial number padded with zero's.

The Datel product is a USB device, it has to connect to a USB host. It is designed to connect to the USB host in your PC but there is no reason why you could not connect it to any other host or something that can pretend to be a host (e.g OTG). HOWEVER nothing "off the shelf" is going to support the XBOX360 filesystem and so nothing is going to work.
As I've said only if you could find an external OTG hard drive you could in theory connect the two directly. Are there any such drives? I dont think so. Even if they did exist, they would not support XBOX360 file system.

You can of course connect the XBOX360 drive via the Datel adapter to a PC and connect another external USB drive to the same PC and copy from one to another that way using 360 xplorer.

ooohhhh.... he meant PC-less.  yeah that wouldnt work.  you would need a PC because you can only view the contents of the 360 HDD via Xplorer 360 or another similar program.  there is no hardware currently vavilable to do that and probably never will.

Does a forza save on 360 work when you move the HD to another 360? that would probably be helpfull in determining what its signed using.

Just rung the helpline they've advised the order hasn't gone through and that 'Checked Out' means the order wasn't successful  huh.gif   They'd already taken the money from the credit card but they advise that will refund back in due course.

The order tracking system is now showing 44 euro's as the price too.

Mine says 'completed and dispatched' - so presumably I'm going to get mine. If not, I'll raise merry hell. IANAL but from what I recall about basic consumer law, at least in the UK, once they've taken the money and confirmed the order, they can't back out.

no they arent cheap they are several hundred dollars... powered usb extenders use either CAT5 or fiber to extend the distance. the limitation of usb is 15feet and even at 15ft many products will puke out. thats why almost all usb cables you get are 6ft

you can chain together a few extenders but it starts to get flakey after 3 of them.

the part i listed that i sell at work isnt cheap i mean its 55 bucks but its cheaper than tiger direct.

but no you can not route it thru a switch or router. USB can not be converted into IP packets. which is what a switch or hub does.

I was wondering.. would this void your 360s warranty? Not sure if it crosses the line.

Umm... several hundred dollars? i can get a USB hub at any computer store for $20 or less - you can get one at Fry's for less than $10 (most under $10 are USB 1.1) - but most of those dont come with a power cord, but you can always buy a universal power cord if you want for some models.   for example: http://shop3.outpost...CH:MAIN_RSLT_PG   doesnt come with a power cord, but you can get one if you want.

to bypass the 15 ft rule:  from the computer to powered hub: 15ft  powered hub to 2nd powered hub: 15ft - there! you just got 30ft!  you can only do this with 126 hubs though - the maximum number of devices is 127 and you need one for the XSATA.  therotcally that will give you 1905ft from the computer to the XSATA.

but that would be expensive.

if you need to go a bit past the 15ft mark, and you can find 2 or 3 cheap powered hubs (and USB extension cords) that would do it.

i dont see how it would - you are not opening the 360 up.  some of the things you might be able to do with the files on the HDD could violate the terms of conditions of xbox live, but not your warranty.

What I think a couple of people are missing here is the form factor of the unit. This is not some homebrew radio-shack laserjet-printed-and-etched circuit board - this is an attractive base for the HD (albeit a base that sits on top of the 360, but a base nonethless).

Obviously the data to the computer does not need the Xbox 360, this device provides that through USB. The only need it would have for the 360 is power, if that (it may get it's power from USB). In other words, leave this by the computer, instead of installing it on the 360 - You can't put this is backwards or break the rather fragile looking cards I've seen so far.

Who's with me here? We might have to modify for power, but so far it's the best offering out there.

yes, you are right - it is a nice commercial edition adapter.  but it is much more expensive than those other adapters.  if you want something cheap that works - use that.

Hard drives (i know with IDE/ATA types, not sure with SATA - but must be the same) use 5v and 12v power.  since USB only provides 5v, the xbox 360 must be on to provide power.  maybe it has a 12v power cord adapter - i dont know.  but if not, it could be modified in such a way to provide it - so it can be used as a base next to your computer.

me?  i probably wont modify it - my 360 is close enough to my computer.  but if it is possible - i might change the blue to green.  if i cant - or too difficult (i'm lazy) or expensive then i wont

You're quite right - if they've confirmed the order and have dispatched, they've accepted the terms of sale as stated in the Sale of Goods Act.

I actually wrote to the support email address as my worldpay order showed one price and the recently ordered items on my account showed the item in UKP.

They confirmed I had been charged the lesser amount. Cool!

Just got the email from WorlPay confirming they've refunded my order back to my card - also the UK phone number goes thru to MaxTV which is owned by Datel (I think ?) Codejunkies is a front-end for Datel, so they should be able to help you with any enquiry - they did me wink.gif
