My 360 Died
« on: April 01, 2006, 05:54:00 PM »

My 360 died last night and now i'm getting quadrants 1, 3, and 4 flashing.  I've narrowed it down to a 0102 error code (which in the faqs is unknown).  Does anybody know anything about this error code?

There's 2 problems with sending it back:

1) The warranty expired a month ago.
2) Since the warranty expired, I opened it to see what was wrong.

Thanks for letting me know.

P.S. Who's fixing it?

The warranty expired? I thought the 360 had a lifetime maintance warranty! Do you mean the store warranty?

No. The 360 has a 90 day warranty through MS.  Read the warranty manual.

MS will still fix it for $75

there fixing my warranty-voided-case-modded xbox right now

but the thing is, they may just send you a replacement one, not your exact same console

I had bought an Xbox 360 with the same problem and could fix this.
Now everyone should know that MS just has made cheap work for the cooling system in the Xbox 360. Sometime it happens pretty fast, sometime a few months later, but it's all because of the same problem. The Thermal Paste under the CPU and the Thermal Pad under the GPU are melting and don't do their jobs well (good contact to the rims so the heat is blown out of them).
Try cleaning the old Thermal Stuff and use new and good Thermal Paste (this should help in most cases). If you still have problems, like me, you need some more fans on the rims! Look here:

The 3 red LED's 1,3,4 flashing is apparently not always from overheating. Overheating is usually 2 red led's flashing. My brand new xbox 360 i purchased this past Saturday is now displaying the 1,3,4 flashing LED ring. It only does this when the console has been off for more than an hour. When i trun it on the red LED's come on and nothing on the screen, I reboot the console by pressing the power button off then on and it boots fine and works with no problem.

2 days i've had this console and already an issue. I'm on my way to Circuit City right now to get a replacement.
