This has nothing to do with audio whatsoever. It is up to the user to decide what they want to do for sound.
The X2VGA2 isn't a television...its a transcoder.
For everybody confused about what 720p, 1080i are:This device handles 3 resolutions:
480P = 640x480
720P = 1280x720
1080i = 1920x1080
480P is a near square (4:3 aspect ratio)
720P and 1080i are rectangles (16:9 aspect ratio)
Obvisiouly 1080i is a higher resolution than 720P, but it is interlaced, while 720P is progressive scan.
Some people think 720P looks better with motion than 1080i. To learn more, search google for "interlaced" and "progressive scan".
