Hmm, it would appear that they have taken out the audio switching function that was present in the X2vga+...

Is this mean we can't have any sound?

You would have to hook it up externally.

Is it possible to display 720p in 4:3 with no distortion with this?

I’m wondering the same thing. If u can't then this will be utterly useless to me...hopefully there is a way.....anyone out there have one of these with a 4:3 monitor running 720p?

Yes, I have the x2vga+, but I have to set the screen dimensions manually as 720p is natively a widescreen resolution.

are you doing it with an xbox 360 or a regular Xbox?... also...how do set it manually? through the X2vga? or The actual monitor? thanks a lot for your reply?

Not sure, but it sure does a heck of a lot on a normal Xbox!

The advantage of the x2vga2 over the 360 vga cable is that it would produce a brighter, more vibrant, less washed out picture when using it on a pc monitor.  The main problem with the 360 vga is that the 360 produces 'Video levels' for colors, instead of 'PC levels'.  The end result is washout colors with not enough contrast.

The disadvantage of the x2vga2 over the 360 vga cable is only 480p, 720p, and 1080i would be selectable resolutions (and 1080i would be out, because it looks horrible on a pc monitor), instead of the seven selectable resolutions that the vga cable offers.

What advantages are there over and above the official MS XBOX360 VGA cable..?

I will tell you...

So, in a nutshell, the X2VGA 2 is better than the MS VGA cable?

But the resolutions granted by the 360 vga cable are purely scaled anyway?
So whether your LCD was doing the scaling or your 360 there shouldn't be a difference.
In some cases it could be better allowing the display to scale. This would depend on which devices has the better scaler.

True, all the 360 vga resolutions above 1280x720 are scaled.  But i'd rather have the higher 'scaled' resolution if the image quality is not hindered.  And that is the case with the 360 scaler, the image quality is just as good in the higher resolutions, but with added pixels.

I use my 360 via vga on a 24" widescreen computer CRT monitor in 1280x1024 widescreen res, so the whole LCD upscaling is not even a factor.
