Yep, pretty much, but it's better to run on a CRT, because anything but native LCD res looks kind of crappy IMHO.

No it won't convert your tv into a HDTV. You need to use this adaptor on a computer monitor. You will then get HDTV modes via your monitor.

Cool, I like the design.  I won't be getting one as I already have an X2VGA+.  It seems to be exactly the same except that you don't have to have an Xbox to use it and has an extra input.

Can anyone tell me if this would work with my setup? I have an 52" RCA High Definition rear projection "monitor". It's capable of displaying 1080I but only using the DVI port. It doesn't have a VGA port. I recently bought a ATI X550 video card for my computer and it came with a DVI to VGA adaptor. So would something like this work for my xbox to display at 1080I using this box and the adaptor? Right now I'm using a Madcats Advanced AV kit and hooking up the xbox to the component imputs and it displays at 480p, I believe. I've heard that the Madcats pack isn't that great although it looks better then using the regular composite inputs. The price on this unit seems pretty decent and I've always wanted to see the full potential of my TV.

Depends, if it has DVI-D I believe it is called, then no... if it is DVI with the VGA pins, then yes smile.gif

Am I the only one that finds this device very very pointless?

Marketing hype it would seem, playing 1080i on a 1280x1024 monitor? Doesnt make much sense to me. All skewed etc...?

Your the only one.  Seriously.  Maybe not best for everyone's situation, but I have one of the original x2vga+ hooked up to a mitsubishi diamond plus 22" monitor and the resolution and picture is perfect!

This front page topic (X2VGA2) really should have been placed in the audio/video sections of both the 360 and the original xbox, instead of in the 360 hardware forum, as it would be more well recieved/appreciated there.dry.gif

Very nice looking device, great to fit into home theatre or on a desktop.  But still, I'd have to agree, I won't be getting one.  Maybe a little more features, but it seems to be the same box diff package.

Great for those who own more than one console though, or a DVD player that outputs HD signals.

So from what I read here it could possibly change my 42" plasma (which aint hdtv ready) which has an VGA socket at the back (which I put my 360 through btw) into an HDTV using the said VGA socket.

Could someone please clarify this because if so it will be cheaper for me to get this than an HDTV TV.

Thanks
