100GB Hard Drive Rumor False

Here's some facts..

Could the 360 support a 100gig sata.. YES

Could you place a 100gig sata inside a 360 and it work? Most likely..

Will you get to use the entire 100gig's? No..

Correct me if i'm wrong but the kernal is hard coded with partitions and sizes.. With out it being modded you cannot add a new partition.. Inorder to see the extra 100gig's it would require a new partition.. If the MS team wanted to release a new 100gig drives it would rock because it might include a DVD/CD with a kernal update for those that don't have intenet (doubtfull)..

Anyways if you want to have 100gig drive.. Download linux and the patchs from xbox-linux cvs which has the 360 XTAF fs you can easily partition the FS for the drives and free60.org has where the byes start and end for the drive.. but just remember you'll have 80gig's unused :-P..

They will have something soon enough. Like a price drop for those of us who are smart enough to wait for a completely non-defective, cheaper console with more games.... smile.gif  Also, im sure they will include something extra once consoles start to become more available in stores. It will probably be an extra controller, remote, or special edition system of some sort... who knows... Anyhow, my xbox1 does more than the 360 does as of now so I have no intention of buying one until something extra or a pice drop is included anyway. Shit... I couldnt even get one if I wanted to (unless I wanted to waste money on ebay...)

I thought the 100gb rumor was pretty silly until I read on article in the Wall Street Journal about how Amazon is pushing to sell downloadable movies and that MSN is currently the leader in downloadable movie sales.  They said consumers can get the movies to their PC's and play them  on their PC's, but what's missing is a way to get them to their TV.   Hmmm...now what could consumers use to play downloaded movies on the TV's.  And if they were going store movies on their movie player (ie. xbox 360), would a 20gb drive be big enough, or would a 100gb be better?   Food for thought.   wink.gif
