FAQ: Xbox 360 Error Codes Explained
« Reply #855 on: January 28, 2010, 05:03:00 PM »

My console suffered from 0102 error. Applied the X-clamp fix and was going to do baking stage when you leave it for some time to overheat. But the console powered on just fine so I skipped this step. Been playing AC2 today for about 3 hours and it never froze or showed any sign of artefacts. Do I still have to do the baking stage in order for fix to work properly ?

I fixed an 020 xbox last year by loosening the heatsink, I posted in this thread how I fixed it around March.

I don't have that xbox now but got another one yesterday that had a e74 error, after I messed about, the e74 error screen was replaced with a black screen with vertical dotted lines, the lad who owned it had done a lot of towel tricking to it so it's had some abuse. I heated it to get the 3 red rings and it gave me the 020 error afterwards.

I took it apart and seen that it had already been x-clamp fixed but the nuts were so tight it was hard to even turn them with a spanner. I slackened them off, turned them back finger tight and it burst into life. That's the second 020 error xbox I've had that I've fixed by loosening the heatsink, they mustn't like being super tight.

020 or 0020?

In case of 0020, my Zephyr elite got  that error after 6 months of usage, never tocuhed it since then but im planning to attempt to fix it soon.

EDIT:

Forgot to ask if anyone ever got the RROD with the following quadrants flashing:

/ \
  /

1, 2, 4.  Happened 10 min ago while running a game of HD (jtagged)  screen stayed black > shut down the xbox, turned it on again and it flashed... but! while it was flashing it booted and worked just fine  uhh.gif

Another reboot made it disapear again

E10: Unconfirmed: CPU error, generally caused by a poor connection to the mainboard (cold solder joints/bridged solder joints). This can also be triggered by an error with the TSOP.

This could also be caused by over torquing the screws if you did the Xclamp fix. (Just fixed  my xbox that had this error and i over-torqued the scews on the Gpu,Cpu.)

I keep getting an E-71 error its so freekin frusterating (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

If you have a jtagged console, try removing any usb sticks or drives with a default.xex file as the root.  Does the xbox 360 logo appear then get scrambled right before loading the dashboard and displaying E71 error code.  To me this seems to be caused by the 360 trying to boot from the .xex on the root directory via usb rather than the hard drive.  Need some bios settings so we can change the boot priority.

This could also be caused by over torquing the screws on ONE side, I over Tighted the GPU screws to try to fix the E74 without the heatgun but I failed.

Fixed.

I've been looking around on the forum and tried some things nothings worked yet.  Xbox is freezing a couple minutes after boot up.  Tried it without the hardrive in and i have an intercooler and my power supply is suspended so i dont thinks its overheating.

I did get E68 once a couple weeks ago with the 1 ring.  I've been using my hardrive since 360 came out so i thought it was craping out and with the E68 i thought that was it for sure, but then why would it freeze without it in.  My warranties up so any disassembly is fine.

SOMEONE PLEASE EASE MY CONFUSION AND END MY SUFFERING I JUST WANNA PLAY BAD COMPANY 2.  haha  thanks in advance

0013 secondary error code for the 3 red rings: I found that you can get this if you do not clean the heatsinks properly.  Cleaned it and it booted perfectly.

I thought it just gave me only three numbers when pressing sync but it must be 0020.

It's still going since my Feb 8th post, I've 1000'ed four games with it and this is a 2006 Hitachi model that the previous owner red ringed twice, x-clamped and gave it an unhealthy amount of towel tricks, he gave it to me with a e74 screen.

When I went to remove the graphics heatsink I had to really give it some with the spanner to loosen the bolts. The person who x-clamped it had tightened them like he was putting a car wheel on, unbelievably tight.

I cleaned it up, new paste, re-tightened them myself with a spanner but not much and it didn't work. I loosened them then re-tightened them without a spanner, just as far as my fingers would allow and it's worked ever since.

E80: Dashboard Error - Wrong LDV version in NAND Flash: This is in new dashboard. You have the update but haven't R3T6 resistor. You can:
-Downgrade to old dashboard, solder back the resistor and then update your xbox
-If you have CPU Key, get current NAND Flash image and fix LDV (just add 1 up to latest kernel). (See error 1100)

R6T3...NOT R3T6.

can someone maybe help me figure out what's wrong with this xbox?
my best friend is goign to sell it to me for cheap, but i'm not buying it unless it can be fixed.  it's a COD model and it's run great since he bought it the day they came out...and then it stopped.   he picked up a spring bundle last week and this is just laying around now

The COD box is less than a year old and should still be covered under the M$ warranty (as long as it has not been opened).  I would call M$ to see if they would fix it for free.  Then you have yourself a new xbox for cheap.
