Xbox Light Gun Compatible With 360?
« on: January 18, 2006, 12:13:00 PM »

I read the FAQ, and it said the Xbox control wont work on the 360. I know it's a long shot but will an Xbox light gun work on the 360? If not will it be possible at some stage (given that some one will figure out how to use the original controller on the 360 sooner or later if it hasn't been done already).

Nope.
Possibly...we'll just have to wait and see.

no...
Xbox 1 light guns make use of the coveted "yellow wire" which has been removed in the 360 controller ports.

so even if we find a way to use an Xbox 1 controller on a 360 lightguns still wont work.

sorry (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

exactly what game did you want to use it with anyway... I'm sure once a light gun game comes out you'll see a light gun periferial... There are a few USB lightguns available for PC, I wouldn't be surprised if you saw a few of them come out with Xbox 360 support as well.

I just came across a Beretta 92FS light gun (replica of the real gun) which is extremely rare where I live (was pulled off the shelves before any were sold). And HOD3 is backward compatible already so I was hoping I'd be able to use the light gun on the 360 when the new games came out. Though that probably wont happen anyway, as there was only two light gun games for the Xbox that I can think of.

the problem with light guns is they don't work with anything but CRT displays.

light guns determine their position on the screen based on the flicker of a CRTs refresh rate... no other tech has that to pick up on...

rear Projector based light gun games in arcades aren't normal light guns... the screens typically have an array of infra-red LEDs around the parameter and the guns pick up on that. they use this method because regular light guns don't work with the non direct display CRT based system  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Check out this.

It's a Lightgun that works on any type of TV, it runs on a different technology (explained in detail on the site). It looks a bit dodgie to me though, even though I usually play Xbox on my LCD TV, I'd rather play on a CRT with a normal one.
