i have a v1.0 xbox, with a thomson drive, and it's been giving me a hard time for a while now. the disc read errors, scratching dvd's and the like. it wont even play halo anymore. i was wondering if it is possible to install a samsung drive in a v1.0 xbox. if so, is it just plug and play? i know the black faceplate wont be there, but im sure i can just crack it off the thomson and use it. if it involves soldering or any other advanced techniques, i probably won't do it. thanks for the help in advance.
