360 Scratching My Cd's
« on: January 02, 2006, 12:07:00 PM »

I've had a problem with the 360 scratching my CD's, I've learned, by reading this forum, that this problem is being experienced by everyone with Xbox 360's because the reading process is extremely sensitive and there is no protection.

So I just want to double check before I start putting more CD's in (the retailer replaced damaged CD's), as long as I do not move my 360 while it is reading/playing/CD in, my CD is safe? There is no way for it to be damaged as long as I take extreme care and make sure the 360 is not moved?

Also, does anyone know if this is likely to be fixed in the future? It seems that if the 360 is to be popular that it needs to be more durable, you never know what kind of problems a console can run into when family is around..

With my new xbox360 didn't have more scratches, I still think it's a question of luck.

well my PGR3 got scratched as the breakaway on the cable-controller didnt do its job.. someone tripped over the cord and it didnt breakaway from the 360, the 360 alas scratched my PGR3 disc..

2 major design faults;... not so perfect breakaway and a disc-drive that's obsolete (i mean.. even a Discman can handle a spinning disc while youre out for a run...).

im seriously hoping for a replacement of PGR3

oh.. and make sure you're 360 is placed horizontally.. just in case you're so stupid not to use wireless controllers since the corded ones arent so clever...

I know it's the princeple of it, but what about those D_Skins for the cd's.  They are suppose to protect your cds/ dvds, game discs, etc.  They are interchangeable, why not buy a 5 pack, split 4 of them with your friends, and beofre you put the game in, put it on the disc and it won't scratch.

I don't think most people are willing to void their warranty for that...

well for those who do Not want to void your warranty about the discs being scratched, I have good news.  I know in a previous post that I had made about the D_Skins, I decided to go out and test them for myself.  I bought a 5 pack for less than 5 bucks.  I slapped it on Perfect Dark Zero, and the game booted right up.  Problem solved.  You don't have to worry about having enough for your discs, they are reusable, take one off one game, and slap it on another, works fine.  For a simple and quick fix, for those people who are at risk of the console moving during game play, this will let you sleep better at night.   sleeping.gif
