Tiny Cracks In 360 Discs Caused By Console?
« on: January 01, 2006, 03:55:00 PM »

Hi people,
First of all, hello I am new to this forum and have been trawling the forum to see if someone has had the same problem as me with my 360.
Wilst playing PGR3 the console made a few grunting noises and the game froze and gave me a message that the disc may be dirty/damaged.
I ejected the disc and the data part of the disc is immaculate.
Can i point out now that this isn't the same problem as the scratched discs problem I have read about.

On closer inspection of the PGR3 game, in the very centre of the disc there are 3 tiny cracks which cut across
the clear plastic part of the disc.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I have checked all my other discs and it looks like that the 360 has slighty cracked fifa as well in exactly the same place.

I would apprecite any feedback,

I haven't experienced this myself.  I take it you haven't moved the console while the discs are spinning...?

thats right maxlifo, the console hasn't moved an inch since launch day, and definately not wilst its on.
Even MS haven't had this problem reported yet, they are going to do a straight console swap, but my HDD has to go along as well. sad.gif

I highly doubt your 360 caused those cracks.  It's more likely that they happened while removing the disc from it's case.

I agree with lowendfrequency, The cracks in the middle are from when you remove the disc from its case.

(SERIOUS)
Just out of interest, have you ever cracked any of your other discs when taking them out of the case Mr Pelito?

(SARCASTIC)
Perhaps it's the design of the new 360 game cases if not.

on another note, i saw when do a search for that topic that people were having the same problem with halo 2 discs, and some others, seems its just something that happens in the buisness.

Well MS are sending out a box to return my 360 in, and they have agreed( after being told 4 different things)
that it IS there policy to swap damaged games as well.
Gonna make sure that the serial number of my replacement is different to my current one, don't want my old xbox back "reconditioned"
It seems this problem is more one of the uncommon ones.
