Help, Python Script? Kml Browser..
« on: June 14, 2004, 03:53:00 AM »

Ok, im going to start off saying im a newbie. in fact i've surprised myself this far. so far, i've got my XBMC working as my main dash, got my SAMBA linked to my folders on the computer and got my weather working. I think the only think right now i dont understand ANYTHING about is the scripts stuff. First let me say, ive looked all around the forum to try to solve this on my own lik ive done everything else but i just dont know where to start here.

I got the CVS version of XBMC  build 5/21/04. I just noticed that i have a rar file of a python file in my python folder in my xbox. i also noticed i have a script rar in my script folder in my xbox, so what i did was unrar them and sent them back into the xbox. I also have a KLM browser i ran into while reading up on trying to figure this whole script thing. I finally downloaded a shoutcast 2000 file thats supposed to have lots of radio stations. Ultimately, all i want is to be able to listen to music on my xbox . im not really sure what the KML browser has to do with it but people say its kool. please help me finish the last thing i want to do with my XBMC -play radio music. any help will be greatly appreciated. thank you guys..

If you have the python.rar and scripts.rar unpacked and on the xbox in their folders and KMLBrowser ftp:ed to the xbox all you  need to do is to go to Settings->General->Scripts and press on the KMLBroswer.py (or the name it have) and you should be taken to the KMLBrowser interface.

Just unrar the kml browser.rar to the pc harddrive.
You should just ftp the dirs and files over to the xbox xbmc folder.

The readme.txt that comes with the rar explains more ;)

I just went pased a Bittorrent Site like a few Days ago I think it was the 11'th IIRC, there was a new Build of XBMC released (wether it was ment to or not!).
This Build: XBMC Xbox Media Center 2004-06-11 [Y].rar has the KML Built into the Skins you do not need to lauch any freaking scripts and I must say that solong as the XboxMediaCenter.xml File is setup with my IP configs. That the Shoutcast KML 2.0 Browser has never been so stable!

Access Webradio from the My Music Button (you may have to set the Switch View to: Songs to see it), but once set it'll be there @ the Bottom of the list on the left!

Useing the XBMC Xbox Media Center 2004-06-06.rar and installing the scripts as you are saying I couldn't even use the KML 2.0 Browser for Two Minutes without it crashing the Xbox! But, that was also before I moded the XBMC.xml File too so that might have played a role in it. I do know for a fact that I couldn't stream Video off the net before I did this!

So to the guy who needs Shoutcast in XBMC just get the current ver. from 11-06-2004

To JayDee is the [Y] relaese kosher or is this some hack or leaked beta?
in any case it works a hell of a lot better then 06-06-2004!!!
