Does The 360 Hard Drive Improve Performance?
« on: December 03, 2005, 06:44:00 AM »

Based on what I've read, the 20 gig drive is broken up into 1 gig for backward compatibility, 6 gig for game caching, and 13 gig for personal use.  That should help with load times if developers use it wisely, or if the SDK and OS design make it mindless to use.  I would think it would be pretty easy to write a preloader as an async background task and let the OS manage the queue of upcoming needed content.  That could allow seamless play with minimal load screens, if any at all.
