Are There Differenct Psus?
« on: December 02, 2005, 04:45:00 PM »

I heard that the PSU for the xbox 360 had fans in it. I got mine today (PAL) and it has no fans at all. I've checked both ends and under it. No fans at all.

Also while I'm here, should the xbox 360 be aproaching the 40dB mark when a disc is spinning?

If they did have different psu's in the U.S it might be because of the different voltage they have coming out of their sockets.

Rather than start a new thread, but not to hijack, can anyone confirm that the PSU brick can take just about any replacement cord from the brick to the wall?  I see there is a notch out of the IEC connector.  Is that notch aligned with a tab in the brick so that you can't use aftermarket power cords?

My brick says it's 200v-240v so i suspect the EU brick is different to the US one. That and my brick only gets very slightly warm - a very different story to those in the US that say it glows red hot wink.gif

yeah After hours of play time my PSU isn't really hot at all... About as warm as a pillow that a cat just finished sleeping on.  laugh.gif

As for PSU regions, there's no swich so I don't think it's universal.

As for the Fans, you can't actually see the fans but there are vent holes on both sides of the PSU...

It's important to have the PSU oriented properly too (rubber feet down).
