Is it normal to not have any sound during the startup animation when turning the 360 on? I don't get any sound until I get into the dashboard. It does the same thing whether it's hooked up to my receiver or straight to the TV. Also does this with both optical and analog audio connections.
I have two games: COD2 and PGR3. On COD2, after the first level loads, I immediately lose sound, and then shortly thereafter (a minute or so) the screen will completely freeze and all I can do is eject the disk or turn the 360 off. On PGR3, as soon as the level is done loading, it freezes at almost the first frame of the countdown sequence at the start of the race (I see my car and a 5 in the middle of the screen).
In an attempt to eliminate the game discs as being a problem, I downloaded the trial of Bejeweled 2. Same thing here. As soon as the first level loads, I completely lose sound, and then after a minute or two, the 360 freezes. I'm not seeing an artifacts or anything, and the ring of light does not change. I just get a green light in the upper left quadrant for my controller.
Wierd thing is that I then put in my disc of the first Halo, and was able to play that just fine (at least for the 20 minutes I played it). What do you guys think the problem could be? PS just has the normal green light on as well. No error codes or anything... it just freezes.
Anyways... contacted MS support and they are sending me a box to ship it back to them. Kinda sucks after going through the whole process of UPS losing my package, the finding it and getting it late. Just got it today and haven't been able to play anything on it except Halo 1.
