I have experienced the same problem with 2 wireless controllers I've bought. However, the controller included with the system works fine. MS should give us a solution for this problem. D-pad is essential to play fight games.

I have this problem with the wired controller that came with my 360. I originally put it down to a duff pad as I had to buy a used machine, but I just spotted this thread.

I'm buying a wireless controller tomorrow - I hope it doesn't have this same problem.  sad.gif

ahh this thread is back, might as well add that it slides alot more then just to the right, i use the d pad in the main menus and i couldnt even make it go up to type my name in a game.  only takes a second to recenter it, but pretty shitty if you ask me.

I just started noticing this also, playing DOA, mine is on one of my 2 wireless controllers.

it is hitting the edge to the RIGHT, just like the majority of you that posted here.

I'm going to call M$ tomorrow (Mon) on this and see what they can do.
I'll gladly take another controller if it is at their expense.

I'll keep taking them till I get a good one wink.gif

both my wireless controller have this problem...  dry.gif

It's painful trying to pull off the more complex movies in DOA and in Tony Hawk... those are two that I use the Dpad with the most.

My wired controller isn't as bad, I might look into swapping that Dpad out.

I can't tell you how pissed I get when I go to do a move and the game does something else because it didn't register right or up  dry.gif

has anyone called yet using the referense number in the reply mail??  if not i will be more then happy to today wheni get home from work.  just last night i was talking to people online in DoA about how the D-pad either needs to be broken in or fixed entirely because it gets old to lose when you pull off the wrong move.  mad.gif

I called the M$ 1800-4myxbox number and I have a shipping address to ship my defective controller to.
They are waiting for mine first... which sucks.

They said nothing about knowing about this problem and
still took me through basic troubleshooting steps of powering down
the system... rebooting it... etc....

That doesn't fix the problem of plastic rubbing on plastic... but they had to
do it anyways....

...then.. after getting the address to ship it to, I thought... I'd just go to walmart,
look them over carefully... buy one - and then return my defective controller.
NEEDLESS TO SAY, I've been there TWICE today now.  The one I bought is bad,
AND then I tried exchanging for one more, and that one is bad too!! Arrrgh!

So, I'm just going to take my newly purchased Walmart controllers back completely
and ship my original defective controller to M$.

If I buy another controller, it will probably one of those MadCatz or off-brand controllers.
This is ridiculous!

I'm glad one of my 2 controllers is good... so I can still play DOA!

I ended up just dremeling the white plastic ring out about 1/16" all the way around the ring.  Works great now. tongue.gif

i had the problem too but then then i found i could slide the enitre d pad around inside the shell. so i slid it to the center and it works perfect now, on both my wired and my wireless controllers.

What do you mean 'slide the entire d pad around inside the shell'?

Do you mean like taking a pair of pliers and opening wide... gripping the d-pad
and forcing it around?

Or did you open it up?

Details would be appreciated  wink.gif

The problem with that, at least for me, is after i have forced it back to center, it adventually returns back to its previous, fubared, side clicking position. sad.gif
