So i wait 15 goddamn hours to pay 550 USD to get this XBOX 360. I purchased Need for speed most wanted (xbox360) and played it with my girl for 4-5 hours PROBLEM free. We finished playing and shutdown the box.

Later when i had the urge to play again, we booted it back up and the game loaded as usual, seemingly to be OK. After playing a few races, a Hi Res Rendered movie began to play about 3 seconds into the movie the whole system froze!!!

Thinking this was a one time error, i restarted the syetem and tried to load the same race again. and what do you know, the game froze again in the same place in the race intro movie.

So i called M$ and the rep said to make sure it had plenty of "breathing" room for all of its fans. He said the problem could be over heating. and if after i had tried to cool the now "breatheable" system and it froze again to first format the hard drive, then try to play. If that also failed, then i was to fully remove the hard drive and try to play with is detached.

So is did all three and again and again the system froze.

I called back and much to my surprise they were very willing to send me an overnight box for mw to send back along with my system to them for repairs/replacment.

Seems like they rushed this system way to fast into the market.

ill admit possible a little bit of rush to the market, but this sounds like bad parts from a bad manufacturer. cost cutting always comes down to this.

does it keep freezing at the same exact scene?

if so, it sounds like a game error, not a console error.

So instead of being happy about great customer support, you feel like you need to bitch and moan about the problem. Let's see you ship 500,000 systems as complex as the Xbox360 and not have some number with issues. I think MS should be applauded for making good for those few people with issues.

Great customer support???  You try getting through (from Canada atleast) ..  Don't bitch/whine???  4/5 boxes I'm familiar with have ATLEAST one major issue..
I love M$'s tactic of admitting that a smaller than expected percentage have problems, but that they decline to name the percentage..  I've personally seen 80%!!!
Now I know they've sold all their launch  boxes, and I'm willing to bet that the next batch will claim to have fixed the problems..  And ppl WILL buy them until they are sold out too..  Its a short-term no lose situation..  Can't wait until they have competition, and they run out of idiot fanboys defending their rush to market..  They also opted to stamp some games before they were approved for quality in order to meet their rushed release date..  I'll laugh too hard if they get burned on that too..

then smash into tiny pieces instead of getting a new one.

im no fanboy, yea they rushed it but you honestly believe that the 3mil of their launch systems 80% of them have major errors? when you exaggerate things that much you only sound ignorant. they arent screwing you, theyll get you a new one/fix it just sit on your hands and be patient instead of bitchy

Lostboyz.. don't mind the trolls.

...in his small universe 80% is 4 out of 5 of his friends.. who probably stood in line in the cold.. rushed hom.. plugged it in while it was still cold from outside, powered it on, while it was on a rug and dragged his shoes on the carpet.

Given his unsubstantiated leap of logic.. than the assumption I made about him and his friends must also be true.. all things being equal. smile.gif

The game has no scratches and if this game has serious errors I cant belive it was pushed as hard as it was...oh and yes it freezes in other areas of the game.

I run it vertical on the "vertical intec stand"

Well, that could be a problem.  The vertical stand blocks the cold air intakes on the bottom of the console.  Do three things and come back...

1. Leave it off for a few hours, then...
2. Stand it vertically without the stand (it will stand on its own, i promise)
3. Elevate the powersupply at tad... and play a game.

You shouldn't have anymore problems unless permanent damage has been done already.

The stand has a small rodge on the front and back for the system to rest, the whole middle part of the system is dug out. there is probably a i inch space beneath the system for "breathing" room. Intec designed it this was knowing the system would need MASS amounts of air flow. The system is crashing and it has nothing to do with the stand trust me, When calling MS, they said that the stand was designed know full well about the base fan.

/\ /\ /\ /\ /\ AGREED

applaud???? hell no. M$ made a mistake and it is there jobs to correct it. we all paid the price for this system and we deserve to have it work without a hitch. i mean come on i think they could have found a way to vent out the system a little better. ive never owned an electronic that i had to keep off of the carpet and hang a 30 pound power supply from the wall to keep it ventiliated. i mean come on here. and im not hating on ms the xboxes are my favorite system of all time, but anyone saying that people with defective systems should not say anything bad about ms and to get over it blah blah either dont have a 360 or theres hasnt broken yet....i for one have a perfect 360 and love it to death.
