applaud???? hell no. M$ made a mistake and it is there jobs to correct it. we all paid the price for this system and we deserve to have it work without a hitch. i mean come on i think they could have found a way to vent out the system a little better. ive never owned an electronic that i had to keep off of the carpet and hang a 30 pound power supply from the wall to keep it ventiliated. i mean come on here. and im not hating on ms the xboxes are my favorite system of all time, but anyone saying that people with defective systems should not say anything bad about ms and to get over it blah blah either dont have a 360 or theres hasnt broken yet....i for one have a perfect 360 and love it to death.

you've NEVER owned a high end amplifier, or a power supply that did more than 12V @ 1amp.... both require high degree's of ventilation... carpet is a no no.

The stand has a small rodge on the front and back for the system to rest, the whole middle part of the system is dug out. there is probably a i inch space beneath the system for "breathing" room. Intec designed it this was knowing the system would need MASS amounts of air flow. The system is crashing and it has nothing to do with the stand trust me, When calling MS, they said that the stand was designed know full well about the base fan.
Personally, I have 3 inches of space surrounding ALL of my electronics, regardless of how much wattage they use.  I haven't used the vertical stand so I can't speak of its construction, but I believe you if you say it has no air restrictions.

My only other thought is... that whatever overheating problem there was has caused permanent damage; and that's in MS's hands now.  Sorry I can't help more than that.
