It's not normal behavior, and I had the same problem. And it wasn't alleviated by switching to a different P&C Kit (I have two), or by switching the rechargeable battery pack to a different one. Whether it was attached via the P&C Kit or not, one quadrant of the guide light of one of my wireless controllers would not go out completely (as others have experienced, it was dim, but lit). Finally, my other two controllers did not exhibit this behavior. It's a defect with the controller itself, not any element of the P&C Kit.

I returned my bum controller for a new one, and it works like it should. No constant-on guide button light.

i have also noticed this , i have 2 wireless pads , one with the play and charge kit , the other on normal AA batteries , the ring of light around the guide button on both of em stays on even after the console and pads have been shut down , its only very very dim , but if the room is dark enuff u can see it no problems , however i dont think it can be draining the batteries too much(if @ all , it could just be residual power in capacitors etc) , strange tho

This is happening with one of my controllers with regular AA batteries. I have never had the charge kit hooked up to it.  Any other updates to this??

Has anyone noticed an issue with a wireless controller not shutting off?  On 1 of my wireless controlles I can't get the light around the guide button to shut off...it dims but not off.  I currerntly have 2 controllers and play and chage with 2 rechargable battery's.  On 1 controller everything works fine and shutsdown when I hold the guide button and choose "shutdown controller", however on the other controller it just dims and stays lit for every (2 days now).

Currious if I should contact MS and see if it's an issue or maybe I'm just missing something.

thanks!

Mine shuts down automatically when I shut off my Xbox 360 by the power button.

It's got to be the P&C kit. I have 2 controllers. The light stays on in whatever controller it is in.

This happens to one of my wireless controllers (i think - cant tell them apart! - the one i bought from argos seperately!) - both my controllers have play and charge kits.. But its interesting, i've only noticed it since i've been at home for christmas, and thats where the control is stored by the PSU.. Just one strange theory, are your controllers stored on/by the PSU too? - Maybe its some freeky electrical field screwing it up.

Interesting, its always the 3rd segment of the ring of light, and i've only ever got two controls plugged in, so its never been the 3rd control.

This is not a problem at all, all wireless devices that activate without a on/off Switch have to go into a standby mode when not in use, hence why the controller dims because it stays on due to having to pick up the signal to activate when you hit the guide button.

This is a totally normal acurance, go see any wireless mouse that when its not in use dims or flashes to let you know its in standby mode, but never physically shuts off completly unless you turn it off with the on/off switch.

Mine stays on too, but mine flashes, but only when using the rechargable battery from the P&C kit

When I turn it off either at console or using guide button, it flashes dimly:

My ROL on Wireless Controller flashing (4mb)

If i tap the guide button, it goes off for 10 secs and then starts flashing again.

I noticed this on the first day I had it, i just disconn the battery when i'm finished:

I think this is normal behavior, I just got my console with 2 wireless controllers both using rechargable battery. I see very dim light on both controllers when they are off.

The light is very dim so I don't think it will drain battery much.

If this was normal behaviour:

a) It'd be documented - how come all of us are having different quandrants come on..
cool.gif It wouldnt happen on ever controller, only one of my two does it.

Normally I would agree with this, however if what you say is true then it would happen when you have the AA battery pack in as well as the rechargeable battery pack, but it's only affecting me when I have the rechargeable battery pack installed, I believe this is true of most of the people here that it's affecting.

I called MS today and surprisingly they didn't have a clue!  Nothing new there then!  As so many of us are having this issue there is either a mass problem with the Play & charge kit or the controllers, or it's a normal, however if the light stays on all the time then the light requires power and thus the battery will be on a constant drain all the time, which I don't think should be happening!
