E74 - is a problem with GPU's solder joint. fixed it by reheating the GPU until the solderballs meltdown or replace the solderballs.
E76 - replace the Ethernet Port's controller chip
E79 - usually started with mozaic graphic when playing games, same treatment as E74
E64 - DVD Drive Error maybe misplaced or accidentally swapped
E68 - HDD Error
010X, 002X, done with same treatment as E74
you can do it with some help from a friend experienced in using HeatGun or SMD rework station or BGA rework station, never try the towel trick, i burn 2 GPUs with that trick, try reheating by plugging the fan's socket & dismount the wind tunnel, until it turns into 2RL & wait until the fan stops, wait 5 minutes, mount the wind tunnel to it's place, then turn it on, see if it works.
0110 definitely cannot be fixed, damaged lines from GPU to RAM (see the lines going from GPU to RAM on your motherboard).
sorry for being not polite for a newbie, btw, Hi Everyone... smile.gif

Ya.....I tried the towel method as well...Light was green for about 20 min, then it crapped out again with my XBOX even more heated....I ended up buying one of those fix guides ...After toiling with the guide for 2 hours, I was able to get it up and going....it's been 5 months now and no problems...no errors... In case you guys wanna give it a try (it worked for me) this is the guide I used....

so i was attempting to flash my lite-on drive with the CK3 and the CK3 blew a circuit (literally, it caught on fire), hoping that it didn't fry ym drive, i hooked everything back up and turned it on, to find that the CENTER power lite (not the rings) was flashing, dvd drive wouldn't open, and the system wouldn't boot. i've heard about this before but it always revolved around people who didn't have a CK3 fry on them. has anyone had anything similar to this happen, with or without the fried CK3?

Hey Peeps

Just bought two Xbox 360 Core Bundles from Futureshop here in Canada.

One of them always crashes while loading games, but plays DVD movies fine.

Anyone else have a defective console??

jROC

Right now my console won't play games.  It thinks the tray is empty.

Ok hopefully someone can help me I'm getting sector 1 and 4 red light no video and 3132 error code using the sync button method. I've tried just about all the methods I can think of  and have no clue.

Yeah iv had my xbox 360 for just 4 months now an it started lagging for a few weeks then when i was recentlly playing a game it shut off an showed two red lights where the green lights should be for the controller thing so i called xbox live the number: 1-800-4my-xbox an i game them all my information an they said my xbox was "Deffective" because in my case i have the Xbox elite an the first addition that was made didnt have the right fans an the parts wernt all placed in the right spots so i have a 4 year warrenty on my xbox 360 elite and im sending it in an they are putting the new fan system in which instead of it in the back its 4 smaller fans placed in the bottom which cools the xbox down faster an makes where dust an other sources of junk dont get in, an alot of my friends have been haveing this type of problem on xbox live due to overheats an crash's then the red lights appear ab yes netflix an movies play perfect whice i dont get...hopefully the xbox comes back 100% better because that was verry expensive.

For all those having troubles with the X-clamp fix:

I notice that with the xclamp removed and using the stock screws, there's a 1 mm gap in between the heat sink and the gpu. This is probably why the motherboard bent and the solder broke. Even with an obscene amount of thermal compound used the chip will overheat almost instantly when switched on, and the RRoD will still be there.

What I did was to replace the screws as per the solution guides, and then tightening them. You must put some pressure on the gpu so that the solder will melt and reconnect the joints properly. The best way to do this is to tighten the screws with a normal grip on the screwdriver until your hand starts to slip. Do this for all 8 screws first. Then give each screw another full 360 degree turn. The sequence is important to ensure the heat sink is level with the chips

If done correctly the chips will take some time to over heat. Mine took about 5 min. If yours is overheating too quickly, that means the heat sink is not in contact with the gpu. Either use fewer or thinner washers, or try not using any at all.  (I have not tried not using washers, so can anyone verify if it works without washers?)

Now over tightening the screws will eventually cause the XBox to start crashing in game after a few weeks from when it was fixed (mine did). So once your Xbox is verified to be working again you must release the screws, then tighten them again like above, except you do not give it another extra turn.

In summary,
1. Remove Xclamps, screws. Clean old thermal compound.
2. Add new thermal compound, new screws, washers.
3. Tighten the screws with the method described above.
4. Overheat the system. If done properly it will take about 5 mins.
5. Once verified working, loosen the screws.
6. Enjoy your revived XBox 360  smile.gif

Mine has been running fine (except for the crash, which was fixed after loosening the screws) for about 2 months now.

Note: changing the thermal compound will help your system run cooler. I tried it on my gaming laptop and peak GPU temps dropped by as much as 5 degree C! Crappy stuff that the manufacturers give us...

There's no 3132 error code... max is 1444. Did you hold onto the sync button continuously? And the codes show only when the eject button is pressed and held on to. That means there is one code for every long press of the eject button.

Key To Error Codes

    * All 4 LED’s flashing = 0
    * 1 LED flashing = 1
    * 2 LED’s flashing = 2
    * 3 LED’s flashing = 3

Usually 1 and 4 means your console is overheating... Try moving your console to a well-ventilated place, put it lying down and ensuring that the panel with lots of holes is not blocked. This is where most of the air gets sucked into the console.

There're various videos on youtube that deals with E73. Basically it involves overheating the console. You can try that or the RRoD fix. Since it also involves overheating the console it should work.

It it doesn't you're out of luck. The only solution left to try is to re solder the ethernet port, replace the port or simply pay microsoft to fix it.

E73 is gpu related, nowhere even close to the ethernet controller. Unfortunately the people who made the error codes thread can't even read when they steal information.

Anyone else have a defective console??

spawned a 65 page thread with over 950 posts, who knew back then how many problems there would be with the 360, i for one can say "i did" and "i told you so"...lol.

im still on my 10th console (thanks to 12v fans since i got it), i remember back in 06 when i was playing hot potato with m$' repair center, nothing worse then paying $400 for something that dosent work and then spending 5 months dealing with shitty repairs to get something that works as poorly as the first one.

anyways i was just going thru cleaning out my bookmarks and thought i would post.

My friend gave me one that was freezing after a few minutes, I fixed it with an x-clamp mod (llama.com method) and the overheating trick didn't fail me. I think the overheating actually works because it fixed it for a few days before I did the xclamp lol.
