Defective Xbox 360 ?
« Reply #60 on: November 23, 2005, 02:40:00 AM »

Yeah, mine doesn't give me a code. Just a black screen.... WTF, eh? When I talked to M$ they said that I will have to have it "repaired", what ever that means... it being new and all. But after a minute or two the screen goes blank or white scrolling lines and when the system is restarted the ring of light flashes red @ 3/4 full (simular to the old xbox frag signs). Oh well... just kinda sucks

but heres my question about the bugs and stuff; all the game magazines....(EGM, OXM, Gamepro, GameInformer, none have put out warnings....not even G4 (Videogame T.V) who has obviously had 360s' far in advance...haven't been experiencing these errors...WTF? is M$ giving the press the 30 good models and then slacking off on the US launch?M$ is screwing with our minds.......i think i've figured it out and i will explain it smarter than some M$ rep could:
The 360's power is only exceeded by its mystery; and its mystery is only exceeded by its power...in other words...its a powerful system but theres all this mystery on whats causing the bugs...M$ obviously didn't test the systems before they sent them off.....

I think it's VERY important that when people post here about their issues, they explain where their 360 is located, what side it's laying on, AND where their power brick is located.  Ventillation is a HUGE issue (huge enough where I would personally reccomend *against* putting your system horizontal until we know more about the air flow integrity).

If you are having problems, please include this information when you post.

Wow, lots of people having problems. I'd like to say I am problem free but that wouldn't quite be true.

 Here are my issues:

   1. All games I've played work(quake 4, pgr3, halo 2, pd) . Dvds have worked great and LOOK awesome. The only issue I have had so far game releated is pgr kept saying could not create session whenever I tried to play it online, worked fine single player. I had assumed the issue was live was overloaded, perhaps there are some pgr issues.

  2. I did initially have some issues with my wireless controllers only one would work. Hitting the connect button on the xbox 360 and holding the guide button fixed that. Also I needed to go through the first initial setup to get my "extra" controller to work.

   3. The only other issue I have is I can't get the media center connect thing to work. The pc says it finds the xbox, but the xbox can't find the pc. I suspect this is a port issue with my router.

  I got mine as part of a bundle a costo. I wonder if there are just some bad batches. I know some people have no issue while other have had nothing but issues.  I think it might be better for people to list aspects of their configuration. I know mine is sitting on top of a bookshelf by itself, vertivcally.

   * vertical/horinzontal
   * set for hdtv or not hd
   * location purchased
   * hardware version/kernel etc

  Might help to narrow down the issues.

I think it would be also important to list what resolution your 360 is running on.  Let us know if it's regular or high def, and if high def, tell us which resolution the system is putting out (80p, 720p, 1080i).  And also, if you are are using VGA, tell us what resolution your system is putting out.

Bought a premium from the Target here in Boulder.  It plays PDZ and Gun just fine, but gives the "PLease play this disc in an Xbox 360 console" screen when trying the PDZ bonus disc or Kameo.

I'm keeping my box horizontal, on top of a PS2 away from all other electronics, out of the entertainment center, with the power brick isolated on the carpet a foot away.

After my conversation with MS I was told this warning (Red in Sector 1,3 and 4) indicated hardware failure.

Mine is doing the same thing.. Called MS they are going to send a Power supply first, and if that doesn't fix it, I have to return the whole unit.

QUOTE(cornstarch @ Nov 23 2005, 09:26 AM)
i mean i have $571.34 right now, i want to buy a 360....but NO PLACE has them, then theres the 3/4 red lights and game crashes, and the "please put this in an xbox 360" game error, but its a chance i would be taking, but AAAARRRGGGHHH i cant decide its too hard i sold my xbox 1 for it (i would have sold my ps2 but i have guitar hero and its waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy tooooo fun)
So with the errors, do i have all of them down?
-3/4 red blinky lights
-game crashes (especially in PGR3)
-system bootup crashes
-360's refusal to play 360 games (i.e the "please put this game in an xbox 360")
-that thing on the xboxscene homepage with the single letter next to some 2-digit number  and all these languages on screen and lines goin' thru it.
i dont wanna buy a $450.00($400+tax) door stop.
hopefully i have em all....i played PGR3 in gamestop and thats why i want a 360 SO bad......

don't be f&^%#$ stupid. Why go buy something that is full of bugs.

MS wanted to release this shit in a hurry and look what they've done. Just wait for a month and buy one for Christmas.

ps. i don't understand one thing. When they tested these xboxes before the launch, not a single one of 'm had problems (or they simply didn't admit they had some bugs) and now almost everyone of 'm has reboots, hangs etc etc

In all these years with windows and the first xbox MS didn't learn a thing, unfortunately.

But on the other hand it's funny to read these desperate posts of ppl who payed alot of cash for some broken shit

I did an online career in project gotham 3 last night, and as I sent a voice message to someone before the race, the game said "sending" or something like that, (it showed the little xbox loading icon) and the screen froze up, but no error numbers came up or crashing screens. I just turned off the 360 and restarted again. That's the only problem I have gotton so far with the game..

Im in the military overaeas, we shop at affes, my base was allocated 36 xbox 360, I was not fortunate enough to get one, however according to a neighbor of mines that works customer service, a memo put out two days before launch, of the 36 allocated 10 of them were on a list for recall, I am trying to get my hands on the list to see if there are serial numbers, but if they gaot a memo before lauch that means someone had to know prior, can any one else verify this.
