« on: November 16, 2005, 04:07:00 PM »

well i tried connecting my wireless controller to my pc with the play n charge cord, windows see that something is plugged in, must just be charging it. the signal might not be hard wired, may still be trying to use wireless. i did install the drivers for the wired controller form MSs website. no luck.

I don't know much about the play n charge kit, but I'm thinking that it only has the 5V and ground lines. I don't think it would have the data lines because it's only meant for charging, not transfering any data.

You would probably have better luck with some kind of wireless receiver. Does the X360 wireless controller use IR or RF? I'm thinking RF, but if it's IR, you might be able be able to get something going with an IR receiver (you can build one, or if you have some kind of remote for your PC (like a media center remote) you probably have an IR reciever already)

well i thought it might use copper for the data lines when you plug into the 360 so it might be battery free, because the usb cable actually has 7 prongs in there, not just 2-3 for power. its is 2.4 ghz wireless rf

FYI:  You can charge via the plug and play cable and a USB wall charger.  I am charging mine right now plugged into the wall.

When plugged into a PC, does the Play and Charge kit light go red or green.  I tried the same thing.  The computer recognized something was there, but the Play and Charge light did not come on.  Just wondering.

Great looks like my Play and Charge may have an issue.  I guess I will find out for sure Tuesday.

I've been trying to get this to work too, but with no success.

I installed the driver from here, (replace MS with "micro soft" minus the space) : http://www.MS.com/ha.....20for Windows

The red light comes on when I plug it into my pc, and windows sees it as a USB device.

But I can't get it to recognize it as a game controller.

Anyone had success with a wired controller hooked up to their PC?
