Rumors have been circulating about the size of the Xbox 360 power supply. Pictures appeared online, showing the massive size of the adaptor. Famitsu, a gaming magazine in Japan, stated that the 360 adaptor is the biggest they have ever seen on any console to date.

From the advance shipment they received, they measured the dimensions of the adaptor. The measurements were, 210mm long, 75mm wide, and 54mm high. MS commented, stating that its size is due to the amount of power the 360 requires. Which will use up to 254 watts, while the current gen uses 200 watts. The massive adaptor will use 2 cooling fans to keep it from melting down.

Sad thing is if it were a little larger and heavier with more metals (more expensive) it wouldnt need fans. Try to make it as small as you can and thats what you get.

I really don't see what all the fuss is about. The 360 is not a portable gaming machine and the sheer power of the console itself should demand a lot of power.

You never hear people complaining about the size of PC powersupplies, so why are so many complaining about the 360's? The 360 is a lot more powerful than current PC's.

i agree with the not portible/ comparing it to the pc powersupply comments. we haven't even seen the ps3 setup yet, we have no guarentee that sony isn't going to give the sony fanboys who will make a huge deal about the xbox's powersupply something even bigger.
