Check this news information out: I found a weird piece of information about Xb360 on  that the console does not have built in WIFI so what is the five dollar cost. The Xb360 is only wifi-ready a/b/g. Is that $5 dollars the cost of the wireless transmitter for the wireless controllers.

Probably a license fee for the "Wifi®" logo either on the packaging or on the console hull. Other logos like DVD-Video and CD audio have similar though smaller fees.

Now i understand the price of the the premium/core........MS wouldnt turn a profit if they sold the $300 system with the hdd and wireless controllers.

What is hilarious is that everyone screams about the price "gouging" of the HD (which I think is stupid as they aren't making that much money on them) but no one mentions the price hike of the wireless card and how cheap it could have been to just include it (again, I don't want it included as I won't buy it for my self, but some would say the same about the HD).

WTF do you mean they arent making much money selling a 20gb HD for $100? I just picked up a 120gb HD dor $18 NEW at staples 2wks ago, and ms is buying them in bulk.

Theyre not using a regular hdd, I think its a laptop hard drive or something like that. So you can't use that to compare the price.

Its a high speed laptop HDD...try to pick up one of those for $20  ;)

EXACTLY my fucking point... why don't you guys research before making rediculous assumptions!  They are using a SATA 2.5" laptop drive... there aren't many (barely any) of these availible.  Right now a 40gig is about 75 bucks and that doesn't include the caddy or ms's formatting and software being installed... when this all started I looked up the price and it was 100 bucks for the 40 gig... so yeah, they will make some money but not anything like what they make on 64mb memory cards and wifi adapters.... hell the last memory care was complete lunacy... wanna talk about rape! :o

I remember getting my 8MB (MegaBIT) PS2 mem card for 50 bucks when you could get a 128MB (MegaBYTE) CF card for the same price. Talk about robbery.

edit no wait it might be an 8MB card but still, the CF card shouldhave cost 800 bucks :D

EXACTLY and MS did the EXACT same thing... so really you shouldn't have called out names (PS2) and act like MS isn't guilty of this.
