No Hard Drive = No Fun
« on: October 28, 2005, 05:13:00 AM »

I just found out that if your xbox360 doesn't have a hdd installed, then you won't be able to get xboxlive or play the backward compatible games. WTF!!!? Is this true?

why exactly are you surprised?

The core version is to allow people who do not use the HDD on the Xbox a chance to buy xbox360 without footing the bill for a costly unit they do not use.

Bottom line is... if you want live... don't buy the core version. <_<

think about this..XBOX Core 299.99(with wired controller) + required memory card to save anything 39.99 = 340$

for 60$ more dollars you are getting a harddrive + remote control + wireless controller (instead of wired)+ hd cables...

its been known for some time.

the core version is for those not interested in LIVE, BC, High def gaming, downloads, or for those used to buying memory cards because they have done it for every system before.

for the 80% of gamers who do want these features they will get the premium package which even MS sees as the true 360 console itself.  you gatta pay for what you want, it doesnt get any easier then that.  and dont hate MS for giving the public a choice, i think its a good business move and no one knows if it will work yet as it hasnt been done before.  no matter what in the end its more then anyone can say for sony and their ps3 which will be as much, if not more, then the premium package and still not include a HD or any of the items in the package (remote control, headset)

No that's false.

You can go on live with a MC. You just won't have much room for downloading any content.

And of course the HDD is rquired for BC, most XBOX1 games have built in HDD caching. Anyone who though otherwise....well they really weren't thinking.

I know that you're wrong on the caching thing... you should change it to "some" games use caching.... most do not as they were designed without caching in mind (ie for ps2).

You can use the 64MB memory unit to play on Live with the core unit and even download small patches and images, wtf is so hard about understanding that.
