If I see a mobile phone or something with plain screws, I rarely try and open it, just no fun. If it has different screws, or even no screws at all, I'll spend hours trying to open it (and always suceed). The only thing that will deter "hackers" is a tamper proof switch that Xbox Live can check. Notice the quotes, I don't think it will deter the real hackers at all, just the people at home decide they want to take a peak inside or try installing a modchip, etc.
I never gave a second thought to my Xbox warrenty. The only thing that would fuck it up is if I damaged the hardware, which I was careful not to do. Hell after screwing up the harddrive I went in with a hex editor and fixed it manually, I'm so hardcore
I can see why MS didn't disclose much about what they've done to deter hackers, but they could have come up with something else than no screws and tamper evident stickers! If they really want to scare hackers they should pretend opening the case detonates a small tactical nuclear warhead...or something to that extent
