Whats This?
« on: October 03, 2005, 05:42:00 PM »

I saw this posted on another forum...

QUOTE
Hi all, I work for a high street retailer, and we received an email today regarding the Xbox 360 Pods (or Kiosk's as they're calling them)

They are exactly the ones we saw pictures of floating around the Internet a few weeks back (With the Samsung HDTV and 360 pedestal stood up in the middle)

I've taken the liberty of uploading the PowerPoint presentation we received regarding them. Here it is

EVERY gamestation is getting one apparently - very exciting for us employees!

Of particular note is that it will be Live enable in-store...just read the presentation heh!

Oh and on one of the pages is the following pic...

Looks like the web cam to me :D

FAKE...

The whole presentation looks quite unprofessional to me.

It may not be fake.  It doesn't seem that unprofessional to me.

Change the topic title so more people will see this.  Something like "360 kiosk info." ;)

Does MS put these in the stores for free, or do the retailers pay for them?

actually, i think its an old presentation that might have actually been sent to retailers. but it is not something recent. i got all worked up about the webcam design (instead of that ugly industrial-generic looking one we've seen), but then saw the presentation.

go to the slide that u can see the kiosk up close, the control pads specifically. you'll see they resemble the old Xbox controller, the Duke. so this presentation is definitely old.

Why feature wireless  controllers linked by security cable in a kiosk?

Controllers either have to be charged every day or remain attached to teh charging cable and since they are tether down don't offer much in the way of showing off the wirelessness...
