Newbie Question
« on: August 24, 2005, 10:22:00 AM »

After some lookin around i found adaptors for 2.5" Harddrive to a 3.5" Interface. Now is it possible to like use that in reverse? like stick a 3.5" harddrive on 1 end and plug the other in the 360 box? Just I thought I had. Anyone else had a similar thought ? lol

I was unaware that a 2.5" to 3.5" adapter was necessary... if they share the same interface.  PATA is PATA.  And SATA is SATA, unless they changed the interface to suit their needs.

From what I read the xbox 360's drive is going to be a 2.5" SATA drive. Thats like a Laptop Harddrive...What im saying is the interface on a 3.5" drive is like huge compared to the 2.5" so could the apater somehow be ridge to plug in to the xbox 360? whoa i think i confused my self there. lol

SATA is SATA is SATA regardless of the drive size an SATA port is the same...

Newbie questions are for the newbie section and we're not having technical hardware modding discussions until there is hardware available to mod....

Not to mention there are several other threads discussing potential HDD compatibility making this topic redundant to boot...
