Two Versions Of X360... Thoughts And Comments
« on: August 17, 2005, 05:04:00 PM »

Well, I for one think it was a horrible idea.  I dont exactly mind that there is a more expensive version with all kinds of free stuff, but why one without a HD?  I know that recently they told developers to expect that, so it cannot be a total suprise but still, I think it's a bad move.  I for one will be buying the $400 package because it's absolutely worth it.  The base x360 + HD seperately is 400 alone... and you get all the other stuff too with the package.  However, and I know we have been through this, I'm wondering if developers will use the HD like they did on the first xbox.

Finally, I thought of something we havent talked about yet... How can the X360 be backward compatible w/o a HD?  For games like Halo and such that cache data during gameplay... they cannot work without an HD because it's in their programming.   HMMM  Anyone?

This topic is not just about the HD thing... It's about the xbox versions.

ALSO, it focuses on backwards compatibility which hasnt been mentioned in the other thread.

There are more than enough talk on backwards compatibility. The reason why no one is talking about it is because no one knows about it. Mention this small topic in the already existing '2 version' threads.

Down the drain?
Go to the gym and lift weights. Go to the park and volunteer for a junior sports team. Go to blockbuster and rent movies each week. Go to Walmart and buy fishing equipment and go fishing. Get a couple of friends at work and play football every week before the game comes on. Go to Home Hardware and buy equipment for your home decor. Go to AutoZone and learn a bit about what you can do to your car so you can race it. Go to BestBuy and buy home Theatre equipment and wow your friends with it every time they walk into your house. Go to a fleamarket every weekend and see what antique items they have for sale which you can sell on ebay.

TOPIC CLOSED: if you want to discuss developers utilization of hard drive do it in this thread here: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=432356
it's a much more CONSTRUCTIVE thread and there are actual developers in there fielding questions.
