So consoles use general ram and share the general ram with the videocard, where gaming PC's have general ram and then high end videocards which have their own ram (256 or so).

Well, the PS3 has 256mb ram and 256mb video ram, so it's evened out. They don't have the 10mb ram to support high definition resolutions and antialiasing better, so we have a clear upside. Also, we have the unified shader pipeline.
