Didn't the specs say that the Xbox 360 could do 500 million polygons per second?

One million Polygons per SCENE in that "article"

500 Million per SECOND is possible.

one does not negate nor contradict the other.

just because what we see in the photograph is wireframe doesn't mean the whole thing is...

From what I've read most of the tech demos toggle between texture and wireframe as sort of proof that it's real time and not just a video.

I can't imagine anyone would take them serious if all they showed was a wireframe.

m_hael, what is the xbox's "real world" polys per sec.?  I know without anything added it is around 117 million, just as the 360's is 500 million.

I read the 300 million polys sec on quite a few different articles on the net, back in 2000-2001.  Here is one on ign.

So let me get this staight:

Xbox 1 useful polys a sec max: 30 mill

PS2's useful polys a sec max: 6 mill

Gamecube's useful polys a sec max: 10 mill??

360s useful polys a sec max: your guessing 200 mill?

Are these estimates correct?

Thanks for all the correct, informative, non-bias info.

I didn't mean to combine the two words in the same sentance; i was thinking of both independently and accidently used both.  Seriously..... tongue.gif

Are these estimates within reason?

these estimates are WELL within reason, consider them to be the mean for their respective platforms. There are always exceptions both in the upper and lower scales... but the mean is a good measure.
