I really don't like HD-DVD at all. To me, it is like upgrading the DVD 1 notch to make it seem better. Then you have Blu-Ray technology that is many steps higher. What do you want, the 1 step up or the many steps higher.

(and for the people who think MS will have some return/exchange policy to update your drives you guys are living in a fantasy world). They're losing money as it is they're not going to lose more money just so people can upgrade a disc drive that probably should have been used as the standard format in the first place.

Since no one as of yet is supporting blu-ray, including Hollywood, then that is why I'd rather have Hd-Dvd. Hollywood is supporting Hd-Dvd, meaning that is what movies will be on.

I don't really care for a next-gen format right now... DVD is still new to me still after owning it for like 4 years...

This news is based on what Bill Gates said over 1 month ago in Japan.
see:
http://www.xbox-scen...ukyssKIOgCU.php
(June 27th!)
His exact words were:
``The initial shipments of Xbox 360 will be based on today's DVD format,'' Gates said. ``We are looking at whether future versions of Xbox will incorporate an additional capability of an HD DVD player or something else.''
Gates said MS hasn't ``solely'' backed either DVD format.
So nothing is confirmed so far.
I have no idea why several sites suddenly start running this 1m old news again. (even slashdot!)

Yeah this is old, so far Bill has said they might incorporate it but if they did it would most certainly be in a 'second edition' model and not at launch. He also said it would be strictly for HD movies so you wont see games being stored on HD-DVD's. I don't see them marketing a second version of the 360, they wil probably just wait until launch and let people forget about it.

all i have to say is FUCK BILL. fuck him to hell. fuck you, fuck you, fuck you.
this shit pisses me off. the later releases and add-ons are just a way for them to keep the cost lost on consoles low and to make money off the "later add-ons."
money drinking son of a bitch

ONce they upgrade to HD DVD will all games use it or only the ones that need to?
I would only get it if they let me trade in my old 360 and pay a small extra fee for the upgrade.
