i am interested to know 1 thing from m$.  Will they go the sony route and try to screw us?  i have a psp and have been an active member of psp forums and 1 thing that they did that i genious for them but sucks for us is that 1) they encrypt everything, bt 2) they have all these firmware updates, and further more required firmware updates for games.  It will be harder to do with a concole but what if why they give u a the free live to get u to download updates and stop piracy.  since its free ur gunna be (thoredically) always conected.  so maybe hardware updates will be the only way.

They can't MAKE you go live... not everyone has the ability... plenty of peeps still on dial up some MIGHT not even have i-net period... ok that's pushing it wink.gif

Also, they cant just install the updates for you - always read what your installing before clicking yes... smile.gif

Mircosoft have been penalised before for "auto-updates" as with windows.

Plus, kia should be able to support the X360 out of the box.

1) it's not kia don't know why people type that it's kai
2) Firmware updates are the exact same as XBOX Live updates, you get a new upgraded dash etc
3) as of this moment there is no reason to mod it, is got an upgradable hdd, it can do basically everything a modded xbox can do, but streamlined by MS

Tho I'm sure it will be modded on the first day its out... I mean I'm pretty sure there's gonna be a disgruntled M$ developer that is willing to leak documents or whatever on how they debugged the box or programmed it and whatever which leads to other people modding the heck out of it.

Kia, as far as i understand is pratically VPN - Passing network packets which would usually go between two xbox's on a network over the internet to another xbox..yes i know thats rather simplified and its alot more complex than that.

Well so long as the x360 has a feature such as system link then Kia should be able to support it with little change to the software.

The suggestion of Kia was only in the event that MS starts banning once the modificaitons begin

You won't be getting a free playable online service, if that's what you mean by Free XboxLive.  wink.gif

You'll still have to pay to play online.

??? I thought the XBL Silver service which comes free with X360 made the service avaliable at the weekends?

i really dont care if it's free or not, i still got 6 month's of it after the 360 comes out...so as long as ms doesnt f' up with the "transfer" of xbox live accounts, ill be good to go.


and as for the autoupdates...i dont understand what the big deal is...up untill recently (ok, not "recently" but recently in how long the xbod modin' scene has been here) we had to unplug the ethernet cable from the xbox in order not to get banned from xbox live (cuz some games have the auto sign in)...so well just have to wait for another "xbox live" blocking bios...or unplug our network cable when we want to "use our modchip"
