Power Supply

The front page of the news today (here) says that the now famous Xbox 360 kid claims the power supply is external and gynormous.

Maybe MS learned their lesson w/ the current run of Xbox consoles and all the power supply issues. If it's external, they can replace the whole shebang without having to open up the console to do it, and the end users get the added benefit of being able to keep their warranties intact.

I hope he didn't cost his step dad  his job, or he might be seeing the business end of his dad's boot up his ass...  ohmy.gif

im thinking it was more of a size decision than anything, although if there were something wrong, yes, they could easily replace it.

And yes, that kid is an idiot

In an interview a while back they said that the PSU would be external for size and heat reasons.... this was AFTER E3 when all the pics of the 360 with the 3 prong connector on the back...

So I guess now it's confirmed.  beerchug.gif

Thinking about that kid... he might not be screwed... I mean what did he show us that we didn't already know?

If his father was allowed to take a 360 home for beta testing then they would HAVE to know that his family would be using it too... so they probably made them sign their own NDAs, if not then it's MS's own damn fault.

The one really stupid thing the kid did was say his father's job title... the fact that he's a new hire and they know the job title, they could easily figure out who it is.

Well, I learned 2 things.  A, letter boxing is probable.

And B, It says samsung on the bottom.  Could this be a DVD drive?

If you look closely, you can see the wireless adapter, but it is not plugged in.

And holy shit, there's a gray expansion bay!

I doubt they would take action against his dad or him. Maybe if he bashed it and said stuff that would hinder sales but from what I've seen he has been prasing it. Anyways if the NDA was very very strict they MIGHT fire him but more likely they will be lenient and overlook it. Now maybe if he took it apart and started taking pictures of the inside and talking about its performance and such they would most likely give his dad the boot but from a few images not likely...

Here is the other thing.  As twisted said, what did we learn??  We knew those were going out, and we knew people would have them.  I'm sure in the non-disclosure agreement it has to say something about saying stuff to people that has not already been officially released.  I mean come on...we knew all this stuff already!

Again it probably does violate the NDA because most of them are very solid especially on high profile projects that they can't say ANYTHING, if they did violate it, obviously it was nothing we didn't already know. If it does say that he can't reveal anything that is not already known he should be fine, he didn't take pictures of the inside which would be something new but ethier way I'm sure M$ has something better to do than sue some small fry over a few pictures.

what I find interesting is in the Kid's original posts he said that his father told him that he "could take pictures of anything but the powersupply"

based on that I think his dad knew he was taking pictures of the 360...

and yeah most NDAs say you can only talk about info that has been officially released, so again the kid didn't show us anything we haven't seen before from MS directly.

If that holds true here, the only break in NDA was his comment on the size of the PSU
