Well, I didn't really mean it as still doing both, what I meant was "Modding a 360 to run an x86 OS for use as a home PC" not "Modding a 360 to run an x86 OS for use as BOTH a console and a PC".
What
are you going on about ?
Did you not listen to what people have said here ?
You want to mod a PPC 3 core CPU based, Hardware DRM (at the chip level) console to to run an x86 based OS ?
This is also provided it gets modded, if ever.
The ONLY way you will ever run an x86 OS, is through SLOW emulation. And what in god's name will be the whole point of that ?

I would buy a console exclusively to replace my home PC IF it ran an OS, preferably a version of "longhorn" for XBOX
Why ?
What can it offer, that a PC cannot ?
Never heard of a HTPC ?
QUOTE
I "could" make do with WinXP for XBOX as well, but I would never bother with ANY other OS.
And it gets even dumber. You will NEVER see a version of WinXP on Xbox. NEVER, PERIOD.
Stop talking bollox.

But, like I said before, it would hinge on:
A) MS releasing a version of Longhorn for XBOX
NEVER going to happen. Most of MS's business structure lies around Windows. Their profits have been made with Windows, NOT Xbox, which was a huge loss to the company. Now you want them to release an OS for a Console, which would jeopardize their PC side ?
QUOTE
A Version of the 360 that allows the upgrade of RAM
Not going to happen. I'll even bet it wont be moddable to upgrade RAM, either.

C) Whether the 360 actually is a powerfull as it seems to be
Yes it is.

A) Ability to replace the DVD Drive with a DVD Burner
IF, it gets hacked, AND a version of Linux appears with working DVD writer support, then
Maybe
