I know were getting into the era of "hard drives" but wtf are we going to do with 20 gigs? can we save games to it? what is the point of having a hdd so huge?

maybe the price differance between a 10 gig and 20 gig drive was just pennies? plus didn't MS say you can download game demo's through xbox live? if so, maybe thats where some of the extra space will go.

If everygame has a custom sountrack you need lots of room for music, for those people who have 50 games alot of the HDD will be just music, don't forget it's also supposed to be a extension to your media center so you will be able to save photo's and movies to I believe. Plus there's probably a few other neat things, like downloading demo's like reaper said.

yeah, and with all the live updates and downloadable content 20 gig's is gonna be about the lowest you could go, because you also need room for saves (not alot but) customs sound tracks, and if they want to do the marketplace thing, your going to need it.

not sure as of right now but we will see, but whats the point of putting that much music on it anyway, assuming mp3 128-192kpbs thats more than 2 weeks of music, so quit complaining

thats like asking somone why they own dvds or cds....
the 360 is going to have media capabilities...im gonna put my media on it...reguardless of it being months of music or video.
you act as if i want to put it on my 360 to listen to in one sitting.... dry.gif

I know personally my MP3 collection is 30+gigs all encoded at 320kbps

If you consider the 360 will need probably a gig just for formatting then another gig or two for virtual memory... then about a gig for the OS, then another gig for the Xbox emulator and all the emulation profiles that come pre loaded.

So we're down to 15gig... Halo 2.5 preloaded? ... 10gig Downloadable content? the DOA3 expansion pack was almost a gig itself... you start adding new tracks and cars in PGR3 and MAPS in PD0... etc.. + save games + custom soundtracks that last 10 gig will disappear right quick.

The 8gig HDD in my current gen Xbox felt completely empty until I got XBL and started downloading additional content... a free map here an extra character there (mind you I've only ever downloaded free stuff)... the HDD filled up so quick I had to delete the only 2 ripped CDs I was using for custom soundtracks because there wasn't enough room!
