It’s so powerful that I’d say that this feature alone makes the Xbox 360 technically superior to any other console planned for the next five years

To even further what twisted said..........
ATI is "technically superior" to Nvidia in the PC graphics card market, yet it isnt more powerful/faster in many cases.

Are his words actually being translated or is he speaking in english?
He is an exec and English is the international business language... It's not like a developer who necessarily need to speak english well to do his job.

Sure ATI may not make the fastest graphics chips, Nivida does but Nivida's chips never could run at full power, mostly 60 percent or something, while ATI claims their 'unified shader architecture' enables them to run their chips at full power.

So based on Richard Huddy statements...

The ATI chip may not be as powerful as the Nvidia Chip in the Playstation 3, but the ATI chip has unified shader architecture which enables their chips to run at full power which Nvidia's chip cannot, so basically ATI's chip seems much more powerful than Nvidia's chip in the real world, not on paper..

Well?  unsure.gif

QUOTE(thax @ Jun 21 2005, 05:54 PM)
The thing with consoles is that the developers learn how to use all the power available over time. So even though they have seperate pipelines, in the long run some of the big developers will overcome this limitation and produce some amazing graphics.

Running the Xenos at 100% all the time is pretty nice and sounds great at first, but think of it this way.  If every game is able to use 100% of the hardware every time, theres no growth for better visuals.  With PS2 and Xbox, we saw bleh visuals at first, but then it got better and BETTER and by the time PS3 and Xbox360 came out, we have some amazing looking games compared to back then.

PS3 does have the more powerful graphics chip, it's not unified architechture like Xbox's but think of it this way.  When 2-5 years down the line, we WILL see better graphics on PS3.  But as I have to keep repeating in every next-gen thread, it will all be about the games and we know Sony is no slouch at delivering.  Xbox will finally have to prove themselves on equal ground this time.

I've really stopped listening to all the news about the GPU's. I know both will be incredibly strong and produce almost the same product. I'll take the consistancy of good graphics that the X360 has over the tough start at first but over time better graphics the PS3 offers, and Twisted I believe ken speaks english at most of his interviews the exceptions being the ones for japanese magazines and such.

I'm just saying if what is speculated about how the GPU's should perform, I'm happy with what is being said right now, because if the PS3 really will have a shaky start but eventually overcome the X360, I would rather have a consistent release of good but not the best graphics that the xbox360 will deliver.
