If MS has announced a "universal" controller or whatever that will work on the 360 and on Windows, it will be std USB connection then.

Remember... you'll be missing out on the amazing UI 'X' button in the middle!

Anyone else see problems with g/f / family / friends 'just checking the score' by hitting that button at a critical moment. Also, what if someone 'sits on' the remote and switches my 360 off?

Useful but dangerous...

Is there gonna be an ipod style 'hold'?

Didn't you hear that Apple successfully sued God?

Ok, I realise that the iPod comment was a bit lame but surely it's a valid enough point.

I'm forever changing channel or turning things off by accidently knocking/sitting on/dropping the remote for the TV. If my PC was controlled by remote it would be a knightmare.

Same with this 360 control.

You need to bemore carefull smile.gif Ive got a remote for my computer i never use it though, no point. Juggling any more than 4 controllers is a pain. Hopefully the 360 remote can remove some of them from teh equation.

If you have remote problems you need to get into JP1 remote modding... it's lots of fun  tongue.gif

Yes there is infact remote modding I picked up this kick ass remote from MCM for $10 with it's own LCD screen and modded it to work with all my stuff... now I just have one big kick ass remote that works with everything  beerchug.gif

hopefully the 360 remote will offer a JP1 interface on the PCB so we can reprogram that to our liking as well  biggrin.gif

EDIT: and yeah my circa 1986 brick cell phone had a hold button so  tongue.gif

im pretty sure when u press the guide button when the console is off, it will turn on, but when the console is on, you press the guide button, then "X" to shut down the 360...it was in a screenshot of the 360 guide somewhere...  so no accidentally shutting off the 360 unless you sat on the guide button, then somehow sat on the X button next before you hit the b button or something...

I just use the controller that came with my stereo reciever (Yamaha) for everything... even the xbox.  Best controller ever.  No fancy touch screen controllers that cost 200 bucks and work worth a shit.  But it does have a screen that displays what item you have selected.  Use it for the stereo, tv, xbox, and cable box.  It can be programmed to control up to 12 things.  I love the thing... but I can't say it needs a hold button (which is on every portable music player I have ever seen btw)
